    Default Hazmat Placard Placement

I sometimes haul hazmat on my dropdeck. I have placards in the back of the trailer, on each side, and right now on the front bumper. I am buyiny a new bumper and would like to know if it is legal to put the front placard on front of the trailer or does it have to be on the front of the truck.

I have seen it both ways and can't find out what the law is.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

Put the placard holder on the "front of the trailer".

Used to be that the front placard went on the tractor.....but it now goes on the trailer, on all four sides. If its on the trailer....and you drop the trailer for any reason...it is always in compliance when placarded. 8)

The information directly related to this is in the "Hazardous Materials Compliance Pocketbook" (usually has a red cover) and is published by JJ Keller. Look at "General Requirements" in my book its under "Placards" on page 35. And yes, it is still "legal" to put the front placard on the tractor, but it is more commonly done on the trailer nowadays.
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

Remember: The "truth WILL set you free"! If it doesn't "set you free"....."it will trap you in the cesspool of your own design".

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.

Thanks. I have both the red and yellow hazmat books, I just wasn't quite sure.

    You have been very helpful.

I really didn't want to put them on the front bumper again.

    Thanks again.
