I bought an unregistered trailer and need to go get it. My 18-wheeler is privately owned, not a business, its for farm use. The truck is licensed, registered, inspected and insured.
Do you know how hard it is to get a phone number for the Texas State Police? I am in another state--I cant call 911
I spent hours on the internet at tx dot and all the info is for motor carriers (businesses)
I made several long distance phone calls to the Texas Department of Transportation and got a merry-go-round of recorded menus and wasted a long time on hold.
I finally called a City Hall and was shuffled thru 3 more agencies and was told to go to the tax assessors office and pay $5 for a one time trip permit.
I'll let you know if I go to jail for dragging this trailer home

The commercial vehicle enforcement office in your state should be able to answer this for you. They are usually part of the state police.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.
Another source of information would be to contact a dealer who sells trailers. They may be able to provide you with the information you need to legally haul that trailer back.

Its too late today and I'm gonna get the trailer tomorrow morning. Early.
You must have missed the post where I learned it is almost impossible to find a phone number for the Texas State Police or commercial vehicle enforcement. I am not in Texas. I am in Louisiana

How do you guys find a tire service truck when you need one? The tires on that trailer arent very good.

Go to Yahoo and find the yellow pages link on the main page. Click on that and the enter in the city and state where you are picking up the trailer and look under tires and you can also try truck repair.Originally Posted by banned

Tires? Depending on the sizes...either TA's or Petro's... or Truck Tire Dealers..... but before you run all over....call to see if they have the size you need.
Forrest Gump was right....and some people literally strive to prove it.....everyday. Strive not to be one of "them".... And "lemmings" are a dime a dozen!

They lost my original "avatar"....oh well.
