    Default Change of State CDL

One of the drivers at our company has went to work for our new yard in North Carolina. He had 4 points on his license here in Ohio. He renewed his CDL down there. He picked up 2 more points for speeding in Ohio in his personal car. The people at DMV down there told him that because he renewed it in NC that the 4 points do not transfer and add up to 6. I told him maybe if he didn't have a CDL they might go away. Am I wrong on this? Are the NC people dumb? CDL is a national tracking system to prevent this from happening. IE going from state to state an getting a clean license.

    Default North Carolina Speeding Ticket

In North Carolina out of state speeding tickets are posted to your record but North Carolina does not assess any points so I have been told. The CDL really has nothing to do with the North Carolina point system. What North Carolina will do is suspend your license (CDL and Regular) if they receive notice of speeding ticket for 15+mph over the speed limit from any state. This applies even if you are driving your personal vehicle.

The insurance company still sees the tickets and so does DAC.

What the CDL system was suppose to do was standardize the testing requirements from state to state as well as prevent people from holding multiple liscences.

At one time it was not uncommon for the BBR types to hold several lisc at the same time from various states. They would run on one lisc until it was almost suspended for tickets and then use the next one. Often by the time they got through thier stack the first one would have points available to run on again.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.
