they are so important (CB and trucking)--more so than any OTHER segment, that it excuses their activity. IOW, *I* drive trucks, this is the ONLY way to move freight, so my use of the radio supercedes any other users' privileges or needs. That's NOT an insult, but it pretty well sums up the attitude that prevails these days, not just in the CB hobby or trucking, but in society itself. We have become an *I* society. There's none of the respect there used to be in much of anything these days--not even for human life. I would never thought that 12 y/o kids would be SHOOTING each other, much less bringing guns into the schools. I am thankful that I got to SEE those "Ozzie & Harriet" days of the 50's and early 60's.
Yes, there SHOULD be more emphasis on other matters such as war, hunger, taxes, et al. But what seems to be a trivial thing WRT the illegal use of those radios is a symptom of deeper issues that are at the root of those problems as well. Tell me: how would you like it if it were legal for someone to just walk right into your house, make himself at home, and eat your groceries? Or go into your shed and take your tools, and there was nothing you could do about it. Say, perhaps, the law was reversed in favor of the criminal, and they would put YOU in jail for trying to stop the theft? You wouldn't LIKE it, now WOULD you?
Bu-bu-bu-bu............that's "different", you say! HOW? Laws are designed to, basically, reward the good citizen and punish the criminal, and it varies by degrees of culpability. Sure, they ain't perfect, but what would life be withOUT them? Without those laws, YOU couldn't hold onto your rightful property, and the rightful users of radio spectrum would not be able to use privileges they EARNED by FOLLOWING the SAME laws that you and I as a citizen are morally and legally obligated to obey whether it be physical things or radio spectrum. We appoint, designate Representatives to go to our Statehouses and Congress and make laws that protect ALL of us. Those Reps assign agencies and commitees who bring on board people who are expert in varios fields in order to craft laws that pertain to society. With radio, it's FCC that Congress delegated this responsibility, and within it, there are ELECTRONICS and LEGAL
experts that determine how to regulate radio. We may not LIKE the laws, but we can get them changed. Still these people usually know FAR more than WE do about "WHY" we are not to use various frequencies or "channels". WE simply are NOT qualified to make that judgement. ("I don't see why I can't talk on that channel", etc) *I* am just SO much more important than they are  , and they should just overlook my talking on them other channels. NO, if you want the same privileges, you RESPECT the law, STUDY the rules and theory (so you will understand WHAT and HOW), and take the test to EARN those privileges.
Yet at the same, some of us gripe at, belittle the licensed folks as if THEY don't count while WE would scream bloody murder if we found someone out in our shed taking OUR possessions! But WAIT, you say! Them 'channels' ain't property you can "own"! Yes and no! Those licensed folks EARNED permission to USE those bands in almost the same sense of a lease! They may USE, 'hold', and keep those frequencies so long as they obey the terms of their license--same as a lease!~ Those who intrude are criminals, tho, yes, it varies by degrees of culpability. And they will pay the price.............sooner or later.
For the LEGITIMATE users, it ain't soon enough!!!!
