when i use to run cali heavy if the scale house was backed up they would turn on the sign scale closed or we just kept going anyway because it was a safety hazard never had a problem. Now if there was room on the ramp and you went by that would be a problem

I will bypass their scale if it is full, but don't even consider it if there is still room on the ramp.

I'll just say that if you're caught bypassing a scale in CA. it will turn into one of the biggest trucking mistakes you'll ever make and everything you think you might gain by bypassing it you'll lose 10 fold.

You will get a reduced or no fine if you hand the CHP a $100.00 bill with your CDL and med card. That has been my experience. I hope this reply to your question was helpful!!!

C'mon now-don't get the guy in more trouble than he would already be in if he ran the scale.

I know you're looking for a dollar amount, however, if the ramp is full, they will shut it down as others have said, and it is not considered blowing by a scale. Best thing to do is get a transponder and not have to worry about it for the most part.
