Let me see if I can traslate he said he got a job with a outlaw trucking firm that will most likely cost him more in the long run because he smoked dope. And to hell with us who told him all he will do is flip burgers.

Since you have been so kind in your comments, let me be equally as kind, and hopefully it will soak into your drug fried brain.

    1. We get people coming on this board and others whining they lost their jobs because of failing a drug test all the time.

    2. Then these same people whine because no one will hire them immediately.

    3. For all practical purposes that idiot whiners career as a driver is over as if they are to ever drive it is back to square one.

    4. Many of the ones who come here whining are not willing to give up the drugs or they are not willing to put in the time, money, and effort to make a return to trucking possible.

So since you are so quick to judge us "super truckers" you should realize that we have seen and heard this sad story many, many times and that is the reason we give the answers we do when another fool comes along with the same whine and dance. Now if you have a problem with that, tough.

Personally I have no use for someone who does drugs. I have seen it ruin too many lives, seen too many deaths as a result. If it were up to me a commercial driver who gets nailed for doing drugs would have a lifetime liscense suspension from driving any vehicle.

Now if you have turned your life around great. Don't waste your second chance because odds are you will not get a third.
Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. I really comes down to finding one whose BS you can put up with and who can put up wih yours.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally haggard, worn out, and shouting, "...HOLY *****...what a ride!"....
If it werent for flatbedders, van drivers wouldnt have a dock to back into! Right?

Some companies are testing hair samples for evidence of drugs. The longer your hair, the farther back they can see into your drug habit.

    Default Idiots

For all you compassionate folks out there, I would ask one simple question: ever drive hung over? If you have, then you have driven under the influence. Doesn't matter if the drug is legal or not. Here is the fundamental problem I see in this industry - hypocrisy. You'll judge the entire world guilty without a second thought, yet how many of you would let me take a look into your life and snoop around? My guess is not too many.

Many have driven hung over, many have driven illegally under HOS, many have run tired which makes you a hazard.

Lets take it one step further, shall we? How many of you have I seen help a hooker into the truck while the wife and kids are at home? In case you don't know, that is illegal. Ever tweek your logs ever so slightly? That's illegal too.

(EDITED: Strike Two. Having healthy discourse is great. Differing opinions are what makes conversations interesting. But keep the name-calling to a minimum. On this board, we tolerate very little of it.)

Let's talk about what destroys lives, shall we? Alcohol is number one. Feel free to look it up. Nothing is even close.

Problem is, Ted Kennedy is not the Vice-President of the United States. Of course, neither is Cheney, but that is a different story for another time.

    Hey Kev
    let me quote you
Let's talk about what destroys lives, shall we? Alcohol is number one. Feel free to look it up. Nothing is even close. So please, if you are going to have an opinion, have an accurate thought first, one based in fact. It would help make your case.
And my point is The woman that died because of Tedd Kennedys Drunk driving destroyed a life, lets see your quote "Lets talk about what destroys life, Alcohol!" Also Tedd kennedy 's car has killed more people then Dick Cheney's shot gun!

To weigh in on the direction of this thread, it's fairly obvious that it's truckers policing their own. If the original poster learned from his mistakes and doesn't od it again, all's well with the world. But if his posting is because he was able to work around the problem and find someone to hire him anyway, regardless of the laws out there, then everyone is responding to it as would be expected.

Policing our own is something that happens far, far too infrequently and my hat is off to those that step up to the plate and do it. But because few others do, the image that most non-drivers hold of truckers is rather low. Whether it's smoking dope or whizzing on the fuel island or dumping garbage in the lot, if no one points it out and makes the attempt to get that behavior changed, the image will continue to plummet and that hurts EVERYBODY, including you.

Bottom line, if you're going to smoke pot, you've no business being on the road. PERIOD. If you have a problem with people pointing that out, you're part of the image problem that many drivers are trying to fix.

    Last I checked:

GW Bush: AWOL when drug screening started in the Air Force.
Dick Cheney: 3 DWI arrests (that we know of).
Laura Bush: Killed someone in Texas while driving drunk.

I agree. Alcohol kills and destroys quite effectively...unless you're well connected, I guess.
