newer truck purchase question
I am finally getting rid of my '98 Volvo to upgrade to newer, better MPG truck. The Volvo averages 4.8-5 mpg doing everything possible raise but no luck so I am. Question is what truck would be best on fuel and not super heavy with good power? My price range is $60k-$70k. I was looking at Kenworth T660's, who can share their pro/cons on these or other trucks that may fit me. Thanks in advance!

60-70k..what kind of freight do you run? i was talking to a friend of mine that is in a ryder truck. cascadia with a detroit. 435hp and he says he's well in the 7's. with the mpg.
but if it was me.. the 3 trucks i'd get is a 386 pete, t660, or a cascadia. all speced the same. 500 isx, 13 speed and 3.55 gears.
i just dont know how light the t660 or the 386 is

We pull skateboards, 25-30% crushed cars, 25-30% low profile new steel rest is higher, more wind catching loads. Most loads gross 75k-80k. Friend has '08 T660 with C15 w/13 speed with APU and 1/2 tank fuel weighs 19,600 lbs.

wish i knew more about the DD15. i'm curious to say the least... though i talked to someone the other day at the TA that had one.. he said the truck was making him go broke. from what are saying though i'd think 450hp, 3.55 gears and a 13 speed should be a perfect combo with low pro 22.5's. if you have high loads why not just go with a high roof?

You could ask to see a print out from the engine ECM, that will give you some idea. You'll see how that truck was run, and compare it to your driving patterns.

Also, keep in mind, that with your loads, routes, and driver habits it could easily go up to a mile per gallon either way....so i'd recommend to look for 6.5 mpg, for a stone mark.
