Default Questions on having carrier lease onto me

Ok, I have debated for some time on having few trucks (tractor/trailers, not power only) lease onto me but have some questions. First off is 85% respectable rate? 100% fuel surcharge of course. Also could I pay owner op as I get paid? We are small and I don't think I could swing paying trucks and their fuel (yes would be held from settlement but still pay upfront) before I even get paid. I don't use deadbeat brokers and I try to use quickpay places. Would it be acceptable to pass quickpay fees onto owner operater? I would rate out insurance/tags to a per week basis. I hope some of you that been in business and have knowledge shed your 2 cents, good or bad I am all ears. I appreciate your experience and knowledge.

If you want to stay in the regs you have 14 days to pay an O/O leased to you. Many don't comply. Why would someone wait to get paid? Might as well get your own authority and wait to be paid.

IF I do I think I will just do settlements weekly regardless if I'm paid yet. If I cant do it I won't offer my services.

At least weekly settlements. Thats one reason someone would lease on rather than their own authority. Charging for quick pay,you could but your lack of funds shouldn't be passed on to the O/O.

You're right good sir. If I am paying xx% (still 100% of FSC) it should be inclusive of quickpays or whatnot. Thank you for being straight forward. I am not one of these people who get butt hurt when things aren't exactly perfect.

Put yourself in the truck owners shoes. What possible reason would he have for signing with you instead of "Landstar"? They have the brokers and the loads. They pay 48 hrs after the load is complete. The only owners you will attract have problems that keep them form signing with a good company. Unless you have some buddies that want to work with you just purchase trucks and hire drivers.

LS and big carriers have more bureaucracy and nickle/dime you. Lots of them are also going to EBOR and Qualcomm.

No electronic logs here unless DOT says I have to. I know I'm not a big carrier but you have to start somewhere. I mean 2 years ago I started with a '95 Freightliner daycab and '04 Freightliner Century with 1 flatbed. Now I have 3 flats and a van plus same '04 and a '97 Freightliner that are paid for plus '09 Freightliner Cascadia (financed). In 2 years I've did best I could, just wanting to expand my options.
