That's not the truck in the video. I don't think they're ready to get back into highway trucking equipment. All they're doing is making a VOCATIONAL truck. Taking into the account their construction machinery background and experience, the dump truck from CAT might actually sell (to the VOCATIONAL market). If it's based on the best-selling International ProStar model, so much the better.

Well Mack has the vocational market right now. Mack always did have that market. Them pics are from the cat truck is AU right now. If you look close they are right hand drive. But the new CAT vocational truck is still going to be based off an IH. Wait and see.

To an extent, Mackman's right. Granted, KW and IH have a rather large market share here. Those new 'Cat' trucks don't look too impressive to me either. If they're anything like the 13-letter crap-spreader that they call a ProStar, they can keep 'em.

Cat may well sell "Vocational" trucks here in the states. But everything I have heard the last couple years (my best friend deals with Cat MFG directly) Cat OTR trucks will only be sold in Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil and on the Africa content....because of the environmental standards here. When CAT first announced the decision to build trucks...I do believe they stated then, that OTR trucks would be sold only overseas...and Vocational would only be sold here in the states. Maybe Canada and Mexico will qualify as "overseas" and we will see those OTR trucks on our highways. I believe CAT also said that the trucks themselves were going to be based on the ITH body style.

My friend Pat just got back from a trip down to Brazil and he saw several of the Cat road trucks on a sales lot in Manzanares (sp?) Brazil..........At least......he said they were CAT road trucks. Pat is a dyed in the wool Mack man. But he liked the looks of those trucks with the unibody sleepers.

The "cat" engine looks very similair to the MaxxForce engines from Navistar.

Thats because CAT couldn't keep up with emission standards, but Navistar could without any extra fluids or afterburners.

    Destroy the cities...
    and they will rebuild them.
    Destroy the farms...
and grass will grow in the streets of the cities.

Destroy the economy of the blue-collar worker...
and grass will grow in the executive offices.

    The bill has come due.
