End Dumps get around 2.00mile give or take. Some higher some little lower. I always look at bulkloadsnow.com . If i was ever going to run the road an end dump would be the only thing i would pull. No lumbers to deal with, No tarps or chains to throw. No sliding axles plus most end dumps are only 40ft. Loaded with a loader and hit a switch in the cab to dump.

There is nearly always work with a end dump. The only thing is that most of it is local and maybe regional work. End dumps stay fairly busy around here hauling rock, shale,ag lime, and some grain.

We did have a bad deal a few weeks back when a local end dump guy was dumping material for the 412 highway overlay, and his trailer got into the high lines and killed him.

Now this thread will die too! I seem to have the kiss of death to threads lately, maybe everyone is just done with that subject by the time I make it to it,

As for rates, they seem to be fairly close to area hopper rates. I mostly run in a 200 mile radius of home, and make anywhere from $400 gross on a slow or very short day to $950 a day gross on a good rate/long day. Avg is about 575 to 650 a day, before fuel, and I sleep in my own bed. When my girls get a little older I may do more 3 and 4 day runs just to get away but for now this is good for me.

It depends on where you are, here in the northeast there is lots of high paying end dump work, most of the load board stuff is cheap, very cheap.

A guy really needs good local contacts, several would be best. If someone is slow, the other guy may be real busy.

I run a MAC in the summer and just haul for a local company here in town. Pays $1.75 a ton and I can usually clear $2200 a week, not sure I will be able to do it this summer tho with my new gig running tanks. Might just have to sell the trailer....... tho i do like working the dump and starting at 5am and getting off by noon

Wouldn't be worth it for on site work let alone go on the street, on site work here is $85 an hour, thats for a tri-axle

Ture that. i get 80/hr for my tri/axle i was at 75 last month but fuel keeps going up so had to jump my rate 5/hr. It would be hard to get 85/hr around here. Too many dumps. There are still guys working for 70/hr.

I hit the wrong button, this damn smart phone is a PITA... it pays $4.75 a ton, the quarry (Vulcan Materials in Francessville, IN) is 25 miles from my drop (I haul to a local yard) and I can run 26ton (40ft MAC) with the Pete. If I still had my daycab Columbia I was able to squeeze almost 29 into it.

A framed dump trailer is more stable to dump but the downside is its heavy.

A frameless is less stable to dump but it is alot lighter.

The Pete was a double-frame with a 3406B and a 63" sleeper..... the Columbia was a daycab with a mercedes motor (PUKE)

Frame dumps are mainly used in the south such as Alabama where there isn't a flat place anywhere and roadwork sites..... frameless HAS TO BE level before raising it or it will tip right over.
I used to have to haul sand to a pit and dump with a 40' frameless. Trust me, 28t and a soft bottom is not fun to dump. Makes YOUR bottom water-tight LOL

so being new to hauling a dump isn't really that hard right?? just if you have a frameless dump just make sure its level and your on a hard surface?? also is it an advantage to having an spread axle dump??
