OK how do I search for a curtain side, conestoga, side kit and a stretch trailer? The acronyms are:
VC, VS, FS, ST but it gives me search results for vans and all sorts of other crap I don't want.

rank, i see you got interested in rolling tarp step systems too maybe when i get my own authority and rolling tarp, which i plan to do in Spring 2010, we can combine our efforts? i'm now looking at verduyn system too. emailed their sales lady and naturally she said they are way better than anything that aero-kit (conestoga) makes. actually, here's her email:

Alternatively, you could talk to the drivers at MacKinnon and get their
feedback as to how the systems compare. MacKinnon has both systems in
their fleet. I am confident that anyone who has pulled both systems
would definitely prefer our Eagle product.

well.............I do have a curtain side step and a side kit for my Reitnouer step and they are both just collecting dust.......

There are many manufacturers in the market place of rolling tarp systems and how do you know what to purchase? The systems you want to stay away from are the obvisous ones that are the highest maintenance. No manufacturer will tell you their system is high maintenance but there are some that will guarantee theirs are the least costly to maintain. Anything with more wheels is more headaches, cost and down time. I hear they all roll coming from the show room but like tires the more you have the more cost it is to maintain. Flat spotting is an issue I hear because most systems roll on plastic or rubber wheels while others are metal wheels that roll on edge. Some systems out there have 1/3 as many wheels with life time warranties. That would be where to start. Also you want to make sure the track isn't a maintenance nightmare. Lots of new features on systems today like sectional tarps that allows the tarp to be easily replaced if damaged but I hear they are not all what they are cracked up to be. One company I understand guarantee's their sectional tarp replacement to be the easiest of designs over anyone else. Watch for frames systems that are too flimsy and not structurally strong. Most systems have skinny front and rear car frames while others are built to last and those that have wider frames can easily contain built in tensioning mechanisms that travel with the frames. If its not attached then it gets run over or damaged. Drop decks are a high cube system and travel far and wide encountering many weather conditions so if the frames are poorly designed then you can have maintenance issues that can cripple you in the pocket book. Search for the best built system that has a proven reputation to out last the others and get their warranty in writing. Ask around and see what fleets are buying what systems and why? Find out what's the oldest systems in their fleet, what components they replace the most and what should you budget per year on maintenance. That will most likely provide good insight on where to purchase a system from. I won't be fooled because some one states theirs is the best, of course they will all say that but only one manufacturer will stand alone and their customer's testimony will be the proof in the pudding.
