Default Safety rating: what's yours?

Hey ya'll,

I got a DOT inspection today on my truck. I was informed my safety rating is a 10 out of 100. Zero being the best, 100 the worst.

I was told that it showed up on his computer that I was 100% in compliance with CSA 2010. That's good news.

Does anyone else know what their score is? 10 sounds good, just want to make sure.

Thanks!!

Scott, I have never really understood the scoring, and when FMCSA2010 rolls out, hopefully I can understand the rating. My score at the moment on the FMCSA website is 94%.They have also recommended that when I drive by the "hencoop", an inspection on me is recommended. From what I learned, someone with 54% is satisfactory and my scroing of 94% is normal for a "new entrant.Quite confusing!
I was stopped in Tuscola, TX two weeks ago by a DOT.He checked every paper work you could imagine and also my logs.He even checked me out on his laptop. When everything came back clean, he walked around the truck and trailer and did a visual inspoection. He said he stopped me for not having a reflective tape on the back of the trailer. He gave me a warning and let me go.
I checked my score on the site this week and it was still 94%.I will have to have my local PSC do an inspection on me to to bring that rating to around 50%.This will put an "optional" inspection recommendation on my stats.
GMAN, shed some light!

any rating higher than a 75 is considered unacceptable and you will be recommended for inspection everytime
it's not fair they way they do it, if a company has 10,000 trucks and 5000 of them fail, they have a 50 percent failure rate, but if you have 1 truck and it fails, you are pegged with a 100% failure rate

This 2010 system updates every month...

It could be very hard to keep this job from here on out.

One mess up and you are toast

Define "mess up".
What could happen to someone's safety rating with 1 an out of service violation?.Let's say someone with 4 trucks or just 1 truck?
I wonder if someone will really be toast with just 1 out of service violation.I also wonder what the "intervention" is all about?Kind of like Driver's ED to maintain your rating?

HOS violation is like 10 pt

etc..etc

the 2010 website has a list of infractions and the points assigned.

Just run legal and safe and everything should be ok.

the most points you can recieve from one inspection is capped at 30. not sure if this includes the 3x multiplier or not.

Mine was a 76, somehow an accident, from another company, with a driver with my name, wound up on my SAFER report. I was able, after many many months to get the accident off of my report, but the points stayed. That is why I fear this CSA2010 for you guys. Myself, I hung up my spurs.

Where did you all get numbers on yourself, other than just adding points of what you remember from the last three years?

I have looked over the CSA 2010 website and am too blind to see it today....thanks for any help.

Carriers are already scored on the SAFER system. You can go look up your carrier here SAFER WEB

The new CSA2010 rules will replace the above system, SAFER, for scoring a carrier. Drivers will also have their own scoring system, that will be carried just like your MVR. CSA2010 will go back retroactively 3 years on your driving record, any infractions you carry from the previous 3 years will go against your score. And I do not know if the 3x multiplier will be used on prior violations when CSA2010 goes into affect.

Here is a good site to get your juices flowing. CSA 2010 FMCSA New Carrier Rating System Measured by 7 Behavior Analysis & Safety Improvement Categories

I called the man that created the site, he is also doing interviews with carriers in the 7 CSA2010 test states. It was a very informative conversation and curled my toe nails back at the same time. I am glad I hung up my spurs and am out of this racket.

Thanks again. I looked over the link, but I don't think my attention span is long enough to read through this today. Secondly, while I only had one speeding ticket, and no others I can think off, I really don't remember all that has happened the last three years. I have had a couple of fix it tickets, would they count? No need to answer, just thinking out loud.

LOL. I think he was saying that he's has 100 driver inspection and 49 vehicle.

That's a whole lot of inspections. Chris how many trucks? The most we've had running the US at any one time in the last 30 months is 3 trucks. We get inspected way to much for a rating of 27. I guess that's what you get when you cross the border in NY state 700 times a year.
