Default Where to stay in Atlanta??

I have a load going from St. Petersburg tomorrow to ATL. I then have to sit for 2 days until I can pick up some show freight on Thursday morn and head up to Cincinatti. Just wondering if the Pilot off 285 exit 51 wasd a descent place? Not sure of the neighborhood is all...... if all else fails I will deadhead down to the 201 off I75 and stay at the J or TA but I'd preffer tpo stay in town if possiable. I dont care about the amenities or restruant cuz I usually dont leave the truck but to shower. Thanks for any helpfull info

I have never stayed in Georgia, I always haul ass thru ATL in the middle of the night to miss traffic so Im clueless here.

I stayed at that on I285 a Pilot a few weeks ago...(the one on the east side)

Cops and security are very active there...what threw me off is thy pay little or no

attention to the 'ladies' that dance about from truck to truck.

I was under the assumption that lot lizarding was illegal.

    Apparently its not..

PS:I-75 around exit 205 or is it 201 has several big truckstops that are better equipped....one of them has a massage place !!

If you plan on staying in atlanta the petro is the only TS I trust in the area. The only drawback is they do charge and if you use idle air they are always slamed full and always have a list but if your not woried about idle air on the other side of the fuel island.

if you buy 50 gallons of fuel or get a wash or spend 25 bucks in the store, then parking is free, otherwise, it's 10 bucks

Frankly, I'd pay to park at the Petro if i was dead-set on staying in Atlanta. If I could move out of town a little I think you would be better off outside of the ring.

Beware: If your thinking of bob-tailing around Atlanta to see a movie or go to the mall most of them have no truck parking signs and they are serious. I parked way in the back of a mall parking lot in a bob-tail with no-one within 100 yrds of me to do a little shopping and came out to a cop looking at my truck and he asked me to move. I went to a barnes and nobles one sunday morning and parked next door at an abandoned store, really behind the store and went to a movie then into the store to buy a couple of books and came out to a warning ticket on my window.

There is a Flying J at exit 19 on I-20 W. I believe there is also a large Pilot at that same exit. On I-75 there is a TA and Pilot with decent parking at exit 296 just north of I-285. All have free parking. If you don't mind paying for parking and being a little closer in to Atlanta then the Petro is about your only option. That Pilot on I-285 is very small and is difficult to get in and out most of the time. As others have mentioned, if you want to stay on the south side your best bet is at exit 201. There is a Flying J, TA, Loves and Wilco at that exit.

There is one outside the circle, on the west side. You can either follor Camp Creek Parkway, or the Fulton Industrial Parkway to where the two meet and intersect. If you take Camp Creek Parkway, go through the intersection with Fulton, and the entrance will be on the right about half a block down. Fulton, coming from I-20, turn right onto Camp Creek.

Be sure to get there in the forenoon or you may not find a place to park. I've never been bothered there. Also, not one of the major chain places.

I usually ask permission or leave a note. if I'm parking in a place that doesn't usually acomidate trucks. If it says no trucks, I don't even try.

I think you are refering to the Quick Trip (QT) In the event that you can get a spot there it is a pretty decent place. I would actually be more inclined to head back south a little ways to the Jackson exit. TA,Flying J,Loves, and a Wilco. All pretty decent places and there is a real decent little beer bar with killer burgers righ across the street from the TA. Or as others have recomended head north a bit and hit the other TA. The Petro in Atlanta isnt all that bad if you absolutely have to stay. Absolutely do not mess with either Atlanta Pilot.

amazing, I used to pickup right next to the pilot on the east side and I would NEVER stay there. I'd make the trip to the other side of the loop and stay at the petro. Those lot lizards are brabe, the make sure to hit all the trucks for several blocks, not just the ones in the truckstops. Also, you hear drugs advertized on the CB all the time. I think they call them party popers, lol. I'd sometimes say I wan't some helium ballons and some of those pointy hats just to mess with them, lol but decided they might not take to well if they found out who was messing with them so just decided to keep quiet.
