    Default Good Shop

I found a shop by accident last November. I had a air cooler split down the seam going through Arizona. I stopped at all the truck dealers in Flagstaff and nobody had time to look at my truck. I finally went back to Peterbilt and told them I needed something done. They told me there was a small shop on the edge of town. I went down there and they got the part ordered and fixed the next day. They fed me dinner everyday and hauled me back and forth from the motel.

I have stopped there 4 more times for repairs.....Fuel pump, hose and new batteries.

The last time I had a vibration so I stopped at a rest area and crawled under my truck and found a bad u-joint that had knocked the keeper off the yoke. I was in Gallup NM so I called them and they told me to take the drive shaft out and bring it in and they would have the parts there. I took the drive shaft out and limped it to Flagstaff. They were waiting with the parts and I was in and out in less than a hour with a bill of $342 total parts and labor. When I got back I stopped at Peterbilt in Des Moines and asked them what a u-joint and yoke would cost and they told me $800 parts and labor.

I don't like to endorse anyone but this small shop with 3 guys do a good job for a fair price and get you in and out quickly.

I keep a list of shops across the country where I have had good service and fair pricing. I also remember those who shaft me. Some shops like to take advantage of a situation. I try to not do business with those. I try to find smaller shops that are privately owned. I find that their pricing is usually more competitive and they can use the business more than the big dealers.

There's a good shop. They've done major repairs for me, new transmission once and recently new clutch as well as minor things a few other times. Not only do they not leave your truck sitting and get it right in, but their hourly rate is $65 an hour.

    Very happy with their work.

I am using these guys for most major repairs....

    Pro Diesel, Inc.

    Office phone number: 515-244-4259
    Office fax number: 515-243-9265
    Address: 990 NE 44th Avenue
    Des Moines, IA 50313

Don't let the skimpy web site fool ya....... these guys will not jerk you around and they do quality work. Rates are better than all the big shops. They keep you posted on the work they are doing and make solid recommendations on what should be done to solve the problem. Had them recently butt heads with Cummins in Des Moines and Cummins had to realize that a mistake was made and corrected the problem as Pro Diesel had recommended it be done the first time. If the engine hadn't still been in warranty, would have had Pro Diesel do the job and get it right the first time.
