Why do you NEED to get into a pete or k.w. 900 ? I guess you are not interested in eventually owing a more affordable truck ?

    Lease/Purchase?

Why do we call them FLEECE PLANS anyway? Why don;t we just tell the guy to shoot himself in the head, and move on to the next thread...

    Anyway...

Anyone know who's doing a fleece/purchase on a new VOLVO 780 (ISX 500, 13 Speed, with a Tri-Pac APU installed - please)? That would be about the ONLY one of these deals that "might" get me thinking about it (for about 30 seconds, until I come to my senses).

The question STILL REMAINS - WHY would you want to get into a deal, that gives you a USED TRUCK, that you'll end up paying 2X what it costs NEW - IF (and that is a REAL IF) you actually can hang in there long enough to FINISH THE LEASE and come up with the FINAL PAYOFF AMOUNT. You end up paying more than CREDIT CARD RATES on one of these deals.

I mean, REALLY - if your credit sucks THAT BAD - and it's the ONLY WAY you think you can get into a truck. Save up about $15-20K, pick up a TRUCK PAPER and look for the guys that will finance bad credit/bankruptcies. At least your not FORCED TO STAY with any particular carrier for the duration of your payments and if things get slow (or you get starved out) you can take YOUR TRUCK and play ELSEWHERE.

As bad as the INTEREST RATES end up being on these "fleece/purchase" deals, what WORSE is that your STUCK WITH THAT CARRIER for the duration. You want to LEAVE - then LEAVE THE TRUCK TOO (and every penny you've put into it).

    As the saying goes...

    Danger Will Robinson - DANGER!

    Rick

I have the same question...why a Pete or a W9?? If you are serious about making it, you will take whatever you can get and go make it. The freight on the back of the Pete/W9 is going to pay you the same as the freight you put on the back of the Freightliner Century. I hope you get your large car and I hope you can afford your large payment. Get a truck paper. Keep us posted.

As some of the others have stated, why a W900 or Pete? And why should an owner operator lease you their truck? Most owner operators will drive their own truck rather than leasing it to a stranger. It is usually some of the carriers who lease trucks to drivers. When you lease a truck from a carrier you will likely pay about double the current retail price before you complete the lease. Payments seem to run between $500-800 per week. Frankly, I don't see how anyone can make it with those payments.
