What do you want to know? I have seen some of their drivers around. I don't recall any of them speaking negatively about them.

Want to know if anyone has worked for them and general impression. It seems that there is no good or bad feedback on them. Looking to sign on as an O/O.

I would say that no news is good news. Usually, when people have a bad experience with a carrier they voice their opinion. I don't recall their name coming up on the board. I am sure someone will have something to say.

I am hearing about a number of carriers who are not hiring more owner operators or drivers. They don't have enough business to support their current drivers or owner operators. If you can get on with someone such as Landstar they should have the freight base to keep you rolling, but most of your success will depend on your effort to find good paying freight. It may be difficult to make ends meet if you sign on with one of the mileage carriers. No matter whom you lease on with freight is slow and cheap. You can still make a living, but most owner operators are barely getting along. It may be that way for some time.

I am not leased to Landstar. I was at one time so I know how their system works. I do haul some of their loads as a broker carrier. Any agent based carrier, such as Landstar, requires that the owner operator be very proactive. When I was leased to Landstar they told us that it takes about 5 months to learn their system. Some do well with their system and others never seem to find their way through the maze. It is a matter of finding those agents who have the better paying loads for the type of freight you haul. It can be particularly difficult if you are in a specialized area. Sometimes you need to find another niche'. I have spoken to several former BCO's recently. Some are not doing well. It isn't just Landstar. Pretty much everyone is having a difficult time.

I know that I have lots to learn as an O/O and with Landstar. However, I have been a business owner in another career for over 20 years. Hope I can transfer my business knowledge to this venture. By working hard one can accomplish much. It takes at least 6 months with any carrier to really get a feel and understanding of how a company works. My personal overhead is very low. I live with friends. Car is paid for. Except for 2 credit cards I have no expenses except my business loan and truck expenses. I have found that living simply and not being materialistic makes life easy. I carry all my food on board. I don't spend on the road except for occasional cup of coffee at Pilot and then I try to use my Pilot points. Think I should be able to make it.
