Default Can anyone find me a t800 "short hood"?

Preferably one with a sleeper, detroit, and 244" wheelbase. Not trying to be too picky! LOL. The wheelbase is no big deal, they can always be stretched out.

I know they exist with sleepers, because I've seen them. For those who do not know what a t800 short hood is:

    T800SH, Used T800SH, T800SH For Sale At TruckPaper.com

Notice how the fender for the front axle is not a half circle, but is cut. The axle is further back than regular t800's.

Check with some of the bigger KW dealers such as MHC. They can search all their locations to find one. I believe they have their own website. Another is Arrow trucks. They have multiple locations across the U.S. Rush Peterbilt may also have some of them. I believe Rush is the largest Peterbilt dealer in the U.S. GE Capital auctions off repos from time to time. I think they have them listed on the internet. I have no idea what they have in their inventory. If you want a dealer in Canada I would check the truckpaper site, as Rev suggested. They have trucks listed in both countries. I believe you can also get on their mailing list and have them email you their weekly listing of trucks in which you are interested.

Actually, I just reposted the link that he had in the OP. I figured that would be easier.

I guess I should've clarified, it needs to have a detroit. Sure I could swap it out but I'd rather find one equipped with a detroit.

Well that throws a kink in my plan. The t800sh only came with the ISM or c12. C13 post 2004. So basically now it boils down to non-egr ISM vs. c12(no c12's were ACERT).

I found one with a c13(acert) and popped the hood. Dear god is it tight in there!

I am curious as to why you only want a Detroit? CAT makes a very stong engine.

I've almost never seen anyone (solo379 excluded) get any sort of fuel mileage out of them. Especially the ACERTs.

I would buy the C12 though, in a heartbeat. The question is should I lean towards the ISM or the C12(both pre-emissions).

I average 6.29 on one of my CAT's and 6.91 with the other with me driving them.

GMAN, do you have a C12 cat? Who would've thought I'd be considering a yellow motor. But considering how rare pre-EGR ISM's seem to be in t800sh's, looks like I don't have a choice anyways. No big deal, I *KNOW* the c12 can do great for fuel mileage.

I think this is exactly what I need right here:

    http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/d...6657029970CAF1

    t800SH
    430 HP c12
    3.70 gears
    22.5 LP tires
    Aero mirrors
    low miles

I don't think you can get any more perfect then that! Well maybe a 244" wheelbase, but I have yet to see one. All I'd need to do is stretch it out to 244" and we're ready for a big 110" sleeper! Play with the exhaust a bit too.

I'm seriously going to do this within a year when I have enough money saved. It's all going to be cash.
