And right now - the states (and feds) and even MORE hard up for $$.

I just got hit for $2,700 in PENALTIES for late-filing quarterly state unemployment returns - WHERE I HAD NO LIABILITY (didn't even OWE them anything). To make matters even MORE RIDICULOUS - I can't FIRE MYSELF (or shut down my computer business corporation) and COLLECT unemployment. They FROZE my corporate bank account without notice.

Needless to say - I was INCREDIBLY PISSED - but it was my OWN FAULT.

Most states have you filing IFTA's quarterly, and you can do so on the internet.

As I mentioned - ALL of the state revenue offices are under the gun now to go after EVERY PENNY and the late fee's, interest and penalties are almost always WAY MORE than you even owed them in the first place...

I think most states have provisions for failing to file IFTA reports in a timely manner. If you don't want to do them yourself there are those who offer a service to file them for you. They seem to charge from $25-45/month per truck. IFTA isn't that difficult but can take time. If you use a spread sheet or software designed to do these taxes it isn't too bad as long as you keep everything together. It can speed things up if you do it as you go. Some states offer online filing. Mine has online but you need Windows Vista for it to work properly. They tell me that you can use Windows XP but I have not been able to make it work. I suppose that I will continue to do it the old fashioned way using XP and mailing in the form.

I would love to be able to file mine online. Tennessee only has it available on line if you have Vista. Since I don't, I have not been able to file online. I was told that there is a way to do it with other versions of Windows but have not been able to do so as of yet.
