    Default Leasing On

I was wondering is there any companies that let you lease on but still run under your own authority? Thanks.

Most carriers will not allow you to run your own authority while you have your own authority. Why would you want to keep running under your authority if you are leased to a carrier? It defeats the purpose of leasing to another carrier if you are running your own loads. If you pull a load under your authority while leased to another carrier you may need to cover any identifying information of the carrier with whom you are leased and display your information on the truck. If you want to continue running your authority perhaps you could see if you could broker loads through your carrier rather than leasing to them.

easton will let you lease to them with your own authority. they will provide ins & you can get your own loads or have them get loads for you. I think they pay 90 % or more if you have your own freight. a neighbor of mine is leased to them. he said his ins was just too expensive to him to keep it. easton is out of channahon il

I know a company that has specialized freight, pays top dollar and you pull their cargo crane van with your authority. I know a few guys doing this and making money at it. Let me know if you're interested and I will give the number.

I checked into JB Hunt's program last year. Man, the contract is 18 pages long and filled with clauses that let them run you like a company truck. Forget it.

I don't see how anyone who could make money under JB Hunt's program where you have your own authority. Rates are too low and JB takes 30% of the line haul. In addition you need to have additional insurance to cover their trailers and general liability, which is another expense that is not needed.
