When, where, and for how long? Sorry to hear it. From what I see on the news, you've got a lot of company, and for all I know, I could be joining you before long. Sort of looking into my options with retirement. Hadn't planned on doing that early, but it might happen.

Remember I said that under my current contract when I leave the house I get paid? Well, I guess QC shut down it's mileage pay division this week. There will be some percentage guys happy to hear it, they knew we were taking good freight from them. Here at the Sulphur terminal, I guess some guys transferred from mileage to percentage- today I was told termination, no such offer came.
Let me try this, first time, "Welcome to Walmart, we've got all kinds of neat **** for you to buy." What do you think, guys? Can I do it?
I prefer "would you like to supersize that"

Maybe, I'm concerned about that, though.
Customer: I'd like a double quarter pounder meal, please. Go large.
Lowrange: Huh...?
Customer: I said, I'd like a double quarter pounder meal, please. The big size.
Lowrange: You want a double quarter pounder meal?
Customer: Yes, large size, please.
Lowrange: Fat thing like you? You don't need no double quarter pounder meal and you definitely don't need no large size. Why don't you get yourself a salad. Damn, you must weigh 300 lbs! You're going to have a heart attack.
Manager: Lowrange, go put some fries in the fryer.
I'm assuming that's the affiliate owner. Anyway, I was in the office and the guy told me they took on the 525 transfers earlier in the week.
Something may come up. Right now, they are shutting down the 'division'. It sounds like my dispatcher isn't too sure about his own future. I'm also thinking about untangling all these financial matters. Will I actually see the pay for these last couple of loads? When will they shut my fuel card off? They want my equipment back, but what about the money they've been taking out of my checks? What about my escrow? I've got a $400 blackberry not worth anything now.
I don't know, OTG. I was pleasantly surprised to get ANY work after Christmas. I'd like to stay on with QC, but whatever the case, I'm just going to roll with it and be flexible. There's more coming, for all of us, not just me. The house and the truck are paid for, I have no children. I'm happy to be me right now.
Really!? Wal-Mart and McDonalds stock have been going up. If I had some money, I'd think about Dollar General stock.
With the end of the American middle class, the rich will make their money selling things that poor people buy....OUCH!...I'm not entirely kidding, though.
Sorry to hear that you are not getting a paycheck, Lowrange. It is tough to find paying work. Best wishes in a new adventure soon....
PS. Walmart stock goes up in a harsh economy. I have a bit of their stock. Wish I had more
Now, watch her get a book deal, a reality show...
Even so, unemployed, unmarried, 6 young kids, and she goes out of her way to get pregnant! As the child of a divorced mother of 5 just barely getting by, I can tell you that neglect sucks.
How I got over that and got all this charm, God knows.![]()
Sorry to hear about that, sucks especially right now.
75 brand new Brenner tanks from Dana are being delivered to QC right now, QC don't have the credit to buy them themselves.
When I saw Ron Dana in the yard Wed, I asked how long you give them?
He said maybe they will last to the end of the year.
Dana let go of 6 O/O's who came from QC at the begining of Feb, We are SLOW, everybody is, most places have a freeze on hiring right now.
Don't let them take the equipment if you already paid for it, especially if you want to stay in tankers, its not like you quit, they terminated you, and for no real reason.
With the Stimulus package you could be living large![]()
Thanks, Maniac. So actually, Dana has terminated some contracts too? I've been anticipating this but I was hoping to wiggle my way through it. There are more layoffs coming but somebody is going to manage to stay employed, somewhat- remember that game where there is one more person than there are chairs?
I'm guessing if you count my escrow, the bill for the equipment is down to about $2000. If they the hold the rest of my paychecks, it's pretty close to even. I don't plan to turn in the equipment unless they are going to give me a significant credit for it, and I doubt that.
I pick up my no. 2 pencils tomorrow. I've got a folding chair and a table, I'll start my new business out on the sidewalk Monday.
Thanks, Maniac. So actually, Dana has terminated some contracts too?
The terminal manager in Charlotte over hired, Ron Dana got tired of the phone calls from the drivers so he made the terminal manager make it right, more in Charlotte SHOULD have been let go, and more still might. Some throughout the company have left on their own for "greener" pastures, there have been no new hires lately.
The guy in Charlotte for some reason wants to be the biggest Dana terminal in the system, the work just isn't there, not now and not ever, Charlotte just isn't a chemical hot spot, like say Jersey,Charleston WV or Houston.
Office help in Charlotte were let go also.
All of our terminals are slow, work is very hit and miss, don't know when it will pick up, a lot depends on the auto industry, that's where most of the chemicals end up, since there isn't much manufacturing left in this country other than automotive.
