    Default is this a good engine?

    im going to look at a truck on monday, it has an MBE4000 450hp motor in it with 500k miles, jut wondering if anyone here can tell me how reliable and fuel efficient it is? its in a 2004 CL12064ST-COLUMBIA 120, thanks

    Can't really say anything, but something tells me that's gonna be a risky move, especially with that mileage.
    I'd stick with something more "conventional", no personal experience with it...

    04 is when Freightliner started using the new & improved Mercedes Benz truck engine. Really...at that mileage... your not going to be hurt.

    Have a dyno done on it.

    We have some Sterlings with that Mercedes engine in them and they seem to be OK. Most have 700K-1M+ miles on them and they get beat on far more than most do. They also seem to get decent fuel mileage and to be in a ******* Sterling they are very quiet as well...

    I have read they get great m.p.g. and the only downside is the pulling power is not the best. I do know that w.w. williams detroit is certified to work on them. though they may be new to other shops. If I had one I would not let just anyone work on it.
