Default If you're thinking about buying an APU, don't get a Rigmaster

Several dealers have confirmed that Rigmaster has shut down all US and Canadian operations as of 1/22/09. I called their headquarters, and they would neither confirm or deny it. Good riddance.

Have seen lots of trucks with Rigmaster units on them....what's so bad about them?

I remember when I worked for Roehl, some of their mechanics mentioned reliability problems...

I wonder if that is why they had a big sale the last month or so. I almost thought twice about, they were offered for $6,200 installed.

They have an answering service taking calls, and their technical support service goes straight to voice mail.

Tom, their product was always extremely unreliable. Engines would seize up after only a few hundred hours on them, they would overheat, they would throw belts. They were extremely loud, and their A/C system was underpowered. In fact, the only person I ever saw that supported them was Steve Booth, and I think the only reason he did was because he didn't want to admit that he was suckered. Even he ended up making major changes to his system.

    I see.

Most of what I've heard about the Rigmaster was from their own advertisements, which are hardly impartial. The only real experience I've had with APUs was with Tripacs, which always worked well for me....

Tripacs are a decent system. I almost bought one of those when I first started researching APU's. And since they are backed by Thermo King, you know they aren't going anywhere. Just like the Carrier systems.

An APu is so far down on my list of things I want to do or need I can't even see it, but thanks for the heads up.

I guess they finally realized that they couldn't compete with you in the Apu business.

From my personal experience Rig Master units are quite undependable. aka....JUNK

The company used to work for had them installed on about 100 trucks. They had so many issues we were still having to idle our trucks because they never worked.

Really nice to have all that money strapped to the side of your truck and can't use it.

The biggest problem I saw was that the aluminum radiators welds kept breaking from the vibration and road bumps causing leaks. That and belts jumping off. But there were a variety of issues letting me know I would never spend the money on one.

I am not sure where Rev. got his info but let's see something to back it up instead of Rev. said. It maybe true that they are closing but all I have heard is rumors or truck driver news reports.

And you say they were extremely unreliable but you never owned one.

I have one with 1,500 hrs on it and never thrown a belt, I had one issue with the compressor when I got it and they replaced the part and has been working great ever since. Also another one of our O/O has been running his for over 5,000 hrs and still going, sure he has had it in the shop a few times for this and that but it still works.

They are like anything some like them and some don't.

I talk to their technical people on Friday and did not get a recording or the voice mail. You will get a voice mail after hours and weekends. I also asked if they were closing and was told no. I can see some dealers closing their doors but who knowstimes are tough, I am sure we will find out soon enough.

Mine has never caught on fire and almost burned my truck down!

I got the info from dealers themselves. They were notified on the morning of the 22nd that the company was ceasing operations effective immediately. They were all caught off guard. The phones at Rigmaster were directed toward an answering service. The tech support at Rigmaster was going to voicemail. This was all during the business day (they are on eastern time, and were open until 5 pm according to their voice mail recording. I called at 3:30 pm EST).

And you say they were extremely unreliable but you never owned one.
I've never owned a Pinto either, but I know the chances of one catching on fire during a rear end collision are pretty darn good.

I have one with 1,500 hrs on it and never thrown a belt,
So I guess everyone who has had a problem with them must be lying.

    Good for you. Your point?

Someone elsewhere posted where Idlebuster is shutting down.

    DotNetNuke

Due to poor economic conditions OX Brands, LLC and Idlebuster has suspended all operations. We regret this action, but it was simply not possible to continue under the current nationwide economic situation.

Idlebuster is busted. Had my generator in the shop last month and the owner said Idlebuster had gone out and OOIDA had called looking for a place for owners to get repairs.

Probably not, but that generator saved me today when I went to go fire up the truck (after it sitting for 10 days).

    And no fire, either.
