    Default Tinted windows- Anyone?

    Hey,

Anyone have tinted windows? Here all the guys are putting tint on- even real dark.
I asked a CHP and he said NO, NO, NO !! Not even lite legal tint. He said it is a $100 manditory fine- not a fix it ticket and one point on your record. I dont believe that to be true .. where does it say that?

State laws differ on the amount of tint they will allow. It is good to check with them to make sure you are in compliance.

I got a $140 ticket in SC four years ago at a road side insp. by a transport officer. he said if it was from the factory it was legal, but since it was added later it was not. It was a very light tint. I called the court where my ticket was to be paid and the judge backed him up. I paid the ticket by mail, I still don't know if I could of beat it.

Oh yeah, and Michigan is about the most strict! Not just the front but sides and back too. You will be ticketed every time they stop you here.

Thats not right in so many ways!!!! I dont care if another state likes it or not, if I got a ticket in another state because my tint was to dark but it was ok in my state I would get a lawyer because its not like its something you can just pull off, its like those black covers you put on your head lights and tail lights on your auto at home, some states will let you run at night with them on and some will not but you can just pull them off, no big deal.

States rights! That's why the Civil War started.

I had a tint ticket in KS. 1st scale going N on I35. He says 5% is legal. I had 35%.

Cure: roll window down when going through scales!

Only problem is my 2009 Volvo the window don't roll down the whole way. ABout 2 inches stick up.

I was going through the scale in Salix, IA southbound on 29 and they got me. They are obviously looking for it there so be careful.

Did ya see the thing they use to measure the light? It hangs on the top few inches of the glass. It would look terrible but maybe you could leave the top 6 inches of the glass untinted.

I've had pretty dark tint on my Classic for several years. I roll them down when crossing scales. Haven't had any trouble yet, but I've been several years betting that I will.

well if you roll across the scalles with both windows down at 15 degrees out, that might give them a hint something aint right.. be it the driver or his windows. lol.
