We just came back from Canada. We were under our loads for 7 days. I, as a company driver grossed $2800.00 for my load. The owner operator I was with grossed $14,000 for his.

I figure it will take AT LEAST 45 days to straighten this mess out.

The trucking part went like clockwork. But there was alot of finger pointing and threatening going on by some people trying to lay blame and set it up so they could steal some money with charge backs. I maintained for 4 days that we wouldn't deliver until I got a revised confirmation.

We shall see. I think it's going to be ugly.

We deliver mostly silos and new steel storage tanks. Other terminals have other freight. The high dollar stuff is water treatment equipment, machine tools, and that sort. Delivering Friday to Harley plant in Milwaukee. Almost everything we haul requires a crane appointment

That's why some big loads pay so much. Just got done with one that was on the trailer for about 7 weeks. Laredo to California, paid $82,000 gross. Took 4 days to get out of Tx. then had to route up into Nv. to find a way into Ca. Trailer sat with load in Nv. for a month, I bobtailed home to Fl. then came back and got it after CalTrans figured a route to get it to where it was going, took two days to do 192 miles in Ca.
Netted $41,000 after paying fuel + permits (Ca. was $8200 alone) + pilots + two CHP cars for the Ca. part.
Load dimensions 16'9" around 57 feet long 160000 lbs. Overall dimensions 16'9" wide, 18'3" high, 142' long gross 237900 lbs
Think I am going on a cruise this winter

Did you have some pilot car guy from Oklahoma? I had one from OK. who said he had been doing short work while they waited for California permits for a big load. Was some sort of steam vessel if i remember right. He had a red gmc pickup

Nope, my lady friend was one (she travels with me all the time as I always need a pilot of some kind) the other was a gal out of San Antonio who came with us all the way. Let her go home, and paid her round trip, while we were waiting.

Ever have an awful escort? we had one last week in Indiana. She was 2 hours late because she got lost twice on her way. She was so awful we told Comdata we never wanted that company again. It sure seems like some just get into the business to make a quick buck

About a 1/3 of them shouldn't even have a drivers license ! I have been doing this so long I have ones I call when I have a move, and most of them are nationaly licensed so I don't have to use "Off brand" but did need one about 3 months ago that was totaly useless. It was in La. and my regular gal couldn't escort (as she go a ticket there while going home, speeding, a few months ago) was East on 10 and said into the CB (approaching a narrow shoulder bridge) "Need the left lane" he said "Go ahead, got it" A voice I recognized, and trusted, " said "don't, 18 up" Was a tanker right along side the trailer that I couldn't see yet. Luckely My escort was just following us thru La. till we hitMs. and she could take over AND protect me
