I mean your real name like "steve Boothe" rather than "sktbrd trucking" etc...
Can someone get a business licence in their own name with a FIN#?
I see some independents with their real names on the door.
There must be an advantage to do so.

Maybe they would wanna be easily recognized by shippers or others about their independence.
I hope I am right.
Somehow, I doubt that shippers care what the name is on the truck.Originally Posted by henboy1

The IRS will issue you a FEIN either as a sole proprietorship, corporation, LLC or LLP. They don't care what name you use.
No benefit to having your name on the door other than it's my name and not someone elses.
From what I can tell it also has a calming effect. Seems like every time this topic is brought up, Rev has a hissy fit.![]()
Worked pretty good for JB Hunt, Schneider,Marten, and others, maybe it's hoping that someday.......I see some independents with their real names on the door.

I like not having my name on my door but rather a business name. It has come in handy a few times when I get to use the excuse of being a company driver when they ask me to do something I don't want to.

The advantage was that after the taxi driver brought me back from "Hooters", and poured me out of his cab, I always knew which truck to stumble over to!!
When you have your name on the door, the lot lizards can call you by name when they come up to your truck and make it feel all personal and stuff.
It also should make spelling less challenging.![]()
When a cop pulls you over and asks for ID, you can just say, "That's my name on the door, beeotch." and start laughing like a madman.
BTW, last night I filed the paperwork to change my name to Landstar Ranger. You can call me "Landy" for short.
