Oh yea. Rev, how many years do you figure your truck will last before it gets replaced?
How much will it be worth then?
How much will a new one cost?
And, how much per mile are you putting away called profit to plan for that day?

Bed time....I have 4 maybe 500 miles to drive tomorrow. I really need to stop pushing myself. I am, a super freaking trucker!
So Rev, how often do you get that 1.90 per mile?? Is that the least you will take to run? Or is this 1.90 you need to average over a quarter?
Never pis$ off anything that can bleed for 5 days without dying.

Not a damn penny. I'm not replacing my truck. Ever. And, how much per mile are you putting away called profit to plan for that day?
My monthly averages have been over $1.90 per mile. But then again, I don't calculate my expenses this way anyway, because it is assuming a fixed amount of miles per month. I calculate my expenses by the day, because the amount of days in the year only changes once every 4 years. The amount of miles one averages per month can change from month to month.Originally Posted by tootie04
Pretty cool how your maitenance & repairs are right around $10,000/year. Just about exactly what I find also.
LOL, yeah that sounds about right.Originally Posted by NotSteve
But the idea of those 300 - 500 mile runs is to stay in one area so you can spend more time at home (possibly) and learn where to stay, learn the shippers etc. Soon it gets to be just like your back yard.
I answered it. $1.80 including driver...so deduct whatever he pays the driver...voila!Originally Posted by NotSteve
Dude, I AM the ORIGINAL number poster....posted load by load, posted exact maintenance & repair costs for 4 trucks & 5 trailers, even posted quarterly results.Originally Posted by NotSteve
I even offered you great paying loads right here on this board, and later via cell phone so you bask in the glow of my success and verify my numbers.
He can do a search faster than I can post (again) for another fly by nighter.
Your not the original posted in this thread. We wanted numbers posted in the form Stan had so we can all talk on a level playing field.Originally Posted by rank
And your loads were OK but no back haul and I've had it with Canada. I actually just sent you a new shipper but never heard back!!!
Sounds like you are in cahoots with this guy Steve. You haven't been prompting him in any way, have you? From the thread on the truckers report, it sounds like you have.....Originally Posted by NotSteve
Granted, that would answer the question as to why his business logic made no sense.....![]()
I'm not in cahoots with steve, but if I were in cahoots with someone it would be him. He seems like a good guy.Originally Posted by Rev.Vassago

[quote="charged"]Removing the wages gets us down to the what an owner operator must make to break even. Now with the $1.22/mi break even figure I can figure how much one needs to make per mile to make $10k/mo or $9k/mo and buy a real apu that won't burn down a truck and smoke out the neighbors.Originally Posted by Rev.Vassago

Working for free....working free of charge...which ever. Nothing for nothing.
As an Owner Operator, whom drives my own truck, I include wages in my "Break Even Point". If my truck does not generate enough revenue to pay my wages, as well as the taxes on those wages, then my truck ran at a loss...Which means I PAID TO HAUL SOMEONE'S FREIGHT....which just pizzez me off.

I'm on the road now teve..and don't have my "numbers" with me. I don't keep my finances on a computer that is hooked to the net. That computer is stand alone, with just quickbook on it. All the paperwork and that puter are in a water proof tub right now...in case Ike hits the house while I am gone.Originally Posted by NotSteve

Dang! Thanks. I haven't checked my e-mail in a while.Originally Posted by NotSteve
got it. you have mail.
Sorry, I thought that was you who posted the original form to figure out operating costs.Originally Posted by Orangetxguy
Yeah...It is the same guy who doesn't think wages are associated with truck operational expenses. He doesn't include things like internet services, phones, faxing, and on down the dirty list of expenses a truck must bare. If this kid and his Dad can keep their "Break Even" at $1.29 with fuel running at the prices it is, while working one truck alone under their own authority...good for them.Originally Posted by NotSteve
I doubt that they are doing it...I doubt that they are making any money. Money enough to cover the truck and wages.
With just a tractor, leased to a Carrier that bares a portion of the operating cost's, I'm lucky to break even at $1.28 per mile. At $1.18 per mile I am burning the phone lines ripping at dispatchers and managers. At $1.859 per mile I hold my tongue.

I'm just lucky I don't have a truck or trailer payment, no wife, no child support, no alimony and no bills. And in the Johnny Cash lookalike case, no Prozac or male enhancement drug payments.
