My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.Thomas Jefferson- Democratic-RepublicanResponsibility is the ability to choose your response. Victims choose to be controlled by outside forces, Responsible people maintain control by making a choice.

I was told we never count the steer axle when referring to a truck in Maryland. Heck even the state law regarding Dump trucks refers to a 4 axle truck as a Tri-Axle. If you hear it every day all day, it gets stuck in your head.

Ive seen a few Quints advertised for sale but havent seen one in person yet. Probably because I dont get East too often.

A car would be a "mono axle".Originally Posted by Colin

Just as MKW said, when describing a truck as a tandem, tri axle, quad axle, etc. the steer axle isn't counted.
Maybe because the steer axle is common to all truck configurations?
I'm in WI and also lived on the East coast when I was younger, and axles are counted the same here as they were there.
Then again there are trucks that have 2 steer axles, so I guess by this logic you'd have to ignore the presence of both of them.
.
If you can't shift it smoothly, you shouldn't be driving it.
This is a quint.
We have 2 of them I know there funny looking but they haul 25tons and thats almost unheard of for a straight truck here in NC.
Probably a little long for narrow logging roads... :POriginally Posted by Mack2

And too long for most any job site around here. There are alot of 6 axle(7 total axles colin) trucks around Va/Dc/Md but they have a hard time finding work, sure they can bring you 25 tons but once they get to the job they need the proverbial 40 acres. Most of the longer trucks just stock plants(asphalt, concrete, etc)Originally Posted by Colin

Yeah thats about right Marylandkw. We pretty well stock pile for the plant and haul to alot of DOT paving projects with them.Originally Posted by marylandkw
Ours our T800's so the only need about 39 and 3/4 acres to turn around. :P
