I think both of you are right in a way. What I think is the changes need to come internally. People need to know their cost. That's all there is to it. Don't haul for less.

As far as "spot market" goes, again know your cost. Know how much more it cost you then it did a month ago. Why do you even have to worry if your revenue comes from "line haul" or "fuel surcharge" revenue is revenue

There's your one point on me. Savor it.

Since it's my birthday, all grammatical errors made are considered mulligans.

    Happy Birthday

How far back was the last post advocating price controls? While it's been mentioned, I wouldn't call it the prevailing theme of the thread.

As for your tomato example, I'd answer this way. First off, for the most part I don't make my business and household decisions the same way. The impact of most mundane household decisions is minimal. Having said that, I know where I can get tomatoes from a grower or a wholesaler and have a pretty decent idea of how much I could get them for. If the price in the grocery store became so high that it would be worth it for me to go direct, I would. Living where I do, that's not terribly likely. However, I've certainly lived in areas where I could go direct to the grower and get produce for significantly less than in the store...and I did. As far as the grower not selling to the public, almost every produce shipper I pick up at will sell you whatever you like.

You keep talking about me having issues with fellow consumers and carriers accepting cheap freight and thinking the brokers/middlemen are charging too much. You're reading something into my posts that just isn't there. I think you're missing the point regarding the motivation behind my posts. But I don't know how to clarify further. So I'll give it a rest :?

For the record, I just said that it was something in this thread, not a prevailing theme.

Use something else, then. Hershey candy bars. Plasma TV's. Whatever. You get the point.

I wasn't aware that I was speaking directly to you in this thread. Just because I am conveying an idea doesn't mean I am only referring to you.

    UNCLE!!!!! UNCLE!!!!

I give up, no more phone calls, no more meetings,.......I'm done with this. I thought I could make a change,..that it would be possible to regulate the system,....and it is not. I have spoken to many, many people about this, and the general consensus is,.....drum roll,............. Screw you guys I'm goin' home,...(not you guys) but everyone else. I'm tired of talking to creepy politicians who will only do something if you "donate" to their campaign.
Only to find out that it is the carriers who have allowed this to happen,...and the brokers are there hand in hand with them.
I'm with you man,...say no to cheap tomato's

    Dog gone!!!
