    Default California or Nevada?

Hi all, I'm not an O/O yet but looking at it for next year. I'm trying to do my homework before I jump though.

I currently live in California and know the taxes suck and there are environmental requirements on the horizon which could be very spendy for me. I'm just a skip from the Nevada line so could easily pop over there and set up my business, anybody know any issues with trucking in Nevada? Any red flags coming over there that would be just as bad as here? Any websites that break down state fees and requirements?

    Thanks to all for looking.

Every time I have called OOIDA about anything they have been very helpful. They have a research dept, a legal dept and they route you to the right place. They are up on all the legal and regulatory stuff.

    Just a suggestion.

I would lean toward Nevada, especially if you plan on incorporating. Not sure if they have changed, but do not believe they have a BIT program like we do here. An added expense this state implemented in August of '06, on O/O's with a CA number. Do an online check of Nevadas M/C division, and compare for yourself , and I think you will see Nevada is more business friendly.

You might want to see if you can get insurance if you register in one state and live in another.

Thanks for the replies folks. I wasn't looking at registering in Nevada and living here. If I did it I'd move over there, I'm pretty sure I'd be in trouble for something if I tried to do it the other way. Thanks.
