I thought they were 100% company drivers over there???
I have seen a few TMC O/O's, didn't look like lease/purchase operators, although they may have those also.

follow the link, click on drivers and look for O/O.
75 to 78% with your own trailer
100% fuel surcharge
I don't see anything on tarp pay.
TMC leases on O/O BUT they haul ALOT of cheap freight so I would think twice before leasing on to them. They seem to be a good company for new drivers and all but not to lease on with.

thanks for the info.. short/long term plans are to one day lease onto TMC once i get to the point of O/O ... unless of course i hear indifferent things about that program. i have seen all the info on the web site, but was curious what the inside scoop was ..
my opinion is that if you can find a sweet freight lane or dedicated run as a company driver and get that locked in as an owner operator you are all set, but fighting for general freight with all the other 2799 trucks it isn't worthwhile to be an owner op with TMC.
Sweetest run that I saw was an owner operator for SMX dedicated to CMC joist in Iowa Falls, IA. For the duration of the wal-mart construction project in Ames IA he delivers two loads of steel joists per day, 53 miles one way, and he was getting seventy something percent of $500 per trip. $3500 in his pocket for just over one thousand odometer miles each week, and he gets to sleep at home every night. That is the secret to success in the owner operator business.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.

Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

TMC lease drivers I know complain about recieving the cheap freight. The company drivers get any good loads. A friend of mine who now has his own authority, said leasing on with them, "was one big mistake".
I agree with Tootie that TMC has a lot of cheap freight. I worked for them last year and most loads were less than $1.50/mile and many just over $1.00/mile.Originally Posted by tootie04
My 2 cents is leasing on with ANY company that has more company trucks than O/O trucks is NOT a wise move, you can do MUCH better than TMC

Steve has hauled some TMC freight. How cheap can it be.

Being with Sammons I would say run for Sammons.
It's all Owner Operators.
You choose what you haul as well.
Sometimes smaller is better.
