Default drove a 2008 ISX today........

Some of you may recall I was shopping for a used truck a while ago. Well not any more. Last week we took delivery of a 2008 T600/13spd/ISX 485hp.

I made a delivery with it today. I put about 425 miles on it and I have to say I LIKE. It seems to like to lug...I'd say it's happy with ~200 rpm less than anything else I've driven, but mostly I'm impressed with the WIDE power band. The torque curve on this thing must be a straight line. it's like driving an automatic compared to the 2001 models.

I drove one briefly and I LOVED it. It would only turn 1700 rpm, and that was absolutely all it needed. What an engine.

Is it T600? I thought, they stopped production, and only doing T660?

When did the T660 officially go into production? Could Kenworth have cobbled together a few late T600's in order to get rid of their T600 hoods and other parts for diehard T600 fans?
You can take the driver out of the truck but you cant take the truck out of the driver.

I was under the impression that the t600 was not compatible with 2008 engine architecture.

Either way, keep us updated! Sounds like a beast!

I hear what you're saying about the T660

I thought it was a 660 also, BUT when you look at the sticker on the door jam, it says T600.

I will double check the year on the door. It could be an '07 I suppose. But it LOOKS like a 660.

    :?:

Anyway, no matter. The post was about the engine.

KW was still doing some T600's at the beginning of the year but like allan said, I didn't think they came with the 2007 engines. Does the engine have a regenerating particulate trap? If not it's a pre-07 emission like mine. The do run at lower rpm's, sweet spot, depending on the torque rating is between 1425-1450. We've been pretty happy with ours.

it's 485 hp, it is the new 2008 engine.

t660's look very different then the t600's. Just look at the headlights, among other things.

Yep, it's a 660. At least it LOOKS like that 660. But it still says T600 on the door. Maybe it's a canadian thing. The 660 is probably still considered a 600....hence the sticker.

    ANYHOO, still like the engine.

I was back in the '95 T6 again today (410hp N14). Small sweet spot, lots more shifting and it felt like the brakes were dragging. At least the 95 isn't governed.

    oh...it's red.

Since the T600 and T660's cab sheetmetal is identical, perhaps they were putting together T660's with leftover T600 cab parts that had already been put together and stamped as being T600.

Congratulations on the new truck rank.

Nice looking truck solo, that snow in the background has me craving the cool weather. We're having a friggin heat wave in MD the last week.

Thanks Rosty...but no need to thank me.....I lost that $115,000 battle....but it pulls like a bear, I'll say that.

I double checked to door sticker today.
    T600.
    Date of manufacture: 06/2007.

It looks exactly like the white one posted above.

Funny how they just can't seem to fix some things. The mirrors vibrate just like our '95 LOL.

OK, 660 then. I'll call KW and get them to warranty the door sticker.
