Default Selling Price on 1985 FLC Day Cab

I want to figure out a fair price for my truck, and not cheat anyone so be honest when you give me a price.

1985 FLC Day cab
350 BCC engine (Ran engine number with FTL, and was told original motor that came with engine) Rebuilt 4 times
15 Speed overdrive with deep reduction

uses 1 gal oil per day to day 1/2
front end needs work (kingpins replaced)
steer tires need replacing
Water leaking around o-rings on top of engine (about 1/2 gal week)
Fuel gauge does not work
a/c does not work, needs compressor ($260.00 plus labor to install)

Truck has been greased every 2 weeks, oil changed every 10,000 miles.
drive shaft completely re-worked
rear rear axle completely rebuilt
new pinon gear, race, seal, yoke
drive tires 70% tread left, caps
brakes 50% left
overhead ran 12/01/2006, 45,000 miles back
3 wheel seals replaced
3 axle alignment done 38,000 miles back

The Truck is pictured in my avitar.
Inside of truck is totally awesome for a 22 year old truck.
Has vinyl headliner.
Has premium interior with vinyl interior only 1 hole in interior.
Checked vin# with freightliner and was told it came (Premium Interior) from the factory.

I know this truck is not worth much, but need some kind of suggestions on price, as I would not want to cheat anyone.

Not expecting much for it, but would like to know because a couple of people are asking me what I want for it, and not sure what to tell them.

Have told them what all is wrong with it, and they still want to buy it. I know this may sound corny, but if I sell it to one of them instead of taking it to the junk yard, I want to be able to sleep at night knowing I did not cheat anyone.

Thanks everyone.

maybe 8-10k If you go to truck paper and look what trucks like yours age wise are going for. I think you took real good care of that truck but you do have to remeber it is a 22 year old truck. And that oil problem i think is a sign of bigger problems to come.

I was thinking $3,500.00 to $5,000.00 as is, and didn't know if this was a fair price for it? I am still using it everyday, just adding oil.

Maybe that is all its worth i really dont have any idea. I just thought with all the new parts you put on it would add up the price a litte

$3,500 is pretty much a fair price for it. It is very possible that you could get $5,000 for it..maybe even more, but that doesn'tmean it's worth it. Someone could buy it for $3,500 and even if they rebuilt the motor, they would then have a decent truck for a fair price.

I actually sold an '89 IH with a wet kit and decent rubber on it for $3,500 a few years ago, but it was rough as a cob inside and out. All in all, your truck is probably in better condition, but the two trucks are probably comparable. BTW, I think my old IH is on the road today...with a new motor and a new paint job! LOL They changed the color and made it into a dump truck, but I've been told that it's my old IH.

$7500.00, if not tell them $5000.00. You have put some money into it, a plus for the guys you work with because they know what they are buying.
I had an 87 classic with cummins in it, paid $5000.00. Truck was in good shape. Had a decent amount of blow by but nothing to be alarmed at. The guy wanted $7500 and we chewed him down to $5000.00. This was 5 years ago. Over all I would try for 5 or 6 grand. If nobody bites at it, drop it to whatever they will give you if you can take the hit.

oil 1 gal per day? are you using 15w40?
anti freeze leak
4 rebuilds ...you cant rebuild these forever
thats a scary motor
sounds like the front end is eating tires
dump it for 3,000
sell it to the first person who comes along
dont even negotiate
just dump it
and move on

Maybe the Green Peace type people will buy it from you just to get it off the road. They do it with cars.
