Thes guys do it all the time. Used or reman electronic engines are readily available.

Show me where on that website they are putting new computer controlled engines into non-computer trucks. All I saw were a bunch of pre emission engines. I didn't see one pre-computer engine in the lot.

Oh wait. I found it. A grand total of one truck on the site - an 87 Pete. Also, no price listed for anything.

I know reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, but I never said it couldn't be done - only that it would be expensive.

They have all kinds of Rebuilt Pre Computer as well as computer ran engines these days on a exchange basis for about 8,000 to 12,000$ .. All of them have warrantees n come in complete or long block versions !!! I would have done this instead of haveing truck payments again !!! That truck could break just like the 85 did and then you will have a repair bill as well as a truck payment !!! With all that new stuff on the 85 I would have kept it !!! What did you do with it anyway ???
Rebuilt does not equal new or nearly new. Where did you people learn to read?

On a side note though that 359 did look good. They brought it in on the back of a truck in pieces. I'll bet that cost at least 100k to restore, probably more.

I think Vassago's exact words that I read were "new or newer"

Kustom sells conversion wiring harnesses for about $2,000.

There seems to be a cottage industry springing up selling new glider kits, built with reman pre-emission engines.

Kustom was the first place I saw doing this. I have since seen a couple of others getting on the bandwagon. If you get the frame pre-drilled for the suspension you will use, putting a glider together is super easy.

I know how to read. Those are YOUR exact words- posted Wednesday, February 06, 2008 at 6:07 PM.

As I see it you have two choices; find a school that teaches remedial reading and critical thinking skills to adults, or go into into politics, if you really think you can deny your own words.

Or maybe baseball. Bonds, Clemens and Vassago, all in the Hall of Shame.

Not only very expensive, but most shops are not going to want to do it, simply for all the wire harness they would have to install. Few want the liability.

I have an 01 C-15 Cat, overhauled before I bought it. Because of new enviromental regulations, when it was rebuilt, all the fliipin epa crap was installed. Not good.

Exactly. Too bad some people here can't comprehend that.

My thoughts exactly, with no payments, comes repair bills down time and extra tax obligations.I have done it both ways and really I prefer a newer (nicer) truck with payments and more running time. Can a newer truck break down? Of course but in the same time frame an older truck will be down more than a newer one, imo.

Mine too. Over $7,000 in repairs the last 3 weeks. Biggest repair was the clutch..but wheel seal, brake pads & a drum, new batteries, a new fan clutch & A/C compressor. Friggin tow bills and road calls can kill you. Only good news about the entire ordeal...the clutch that went out had over 645,000 miles on it.
