Dealerships are obviously much better than truck paper to get the specific truck you want.

Don't believe the prices in truckpaper either. They're going to be inflated. Most don't even have prices.

It's all in knowing what your looking for and knowing what it's worth. I happened onto an '01 Century Class a couple years back on TruckPaper. I bought it for $15k, kept it for about 8 months, decided not to use it and listed right back on TruckPaper for $18,500 and got it. I felt like I got a good bargain :wink: It's also worth mentioning that the seller who I bought it from was a dealer. I bet he would have been pizzed if he knew what I resold it for...lol. It was a single axle truck and I think he just didn't see any value in it...I did..... and apparently someone else did.

If you enter a price range when you search, they will all have prices. I am referring to the Truckpaper website which allows you to search by make, model, price, engine, trans, sleeper size, wheelbase, etc., etc.

Quite a few trucks on ebay Papa Rick, including some repos.

Just my 2c here........Truck paper is full of dealers, so how is the dealer better then?....see my point?......if dealer is so much better then truck papper why are they in there?......but assumming you mean private party?

Hmmm just my experience....when I was buying a truck, for almost two months I pounded the pavement out here on dealer's lots, n I COULDNT get what I thought was a good deal....maybe there were some good deals, but they were sure alluding me; only found dealers that seemed to want to make a healthy profit off of me.

I bought at auction, got a comprable truck, for 15k less, but maybe it isnt for everyone?

Many here have pointed out, dealers buy from auction anyway, at auction I was surrounded by dealers and was the only driver actually there to buy.

Because they do not put up their whole inventory, only a fraction of it.

Best is to call as many dealers around you, with specific specs. If they don't have anything, move on. Don't settle for anything less.

You can try Ryder or Penske. You'll pay 5-10 k more, but you'll have the records. You can also try the fleets like Maverick, Knight, etc.

Auctions will save you 10-15 k, but you'll most likely need to spend a few k on repairs.
