Default It happened so fast I never saw it coming

On Monday I am talking to a guy leased where I am leased who says he loves my truck and would I sell it. He's asked before but I always say no. Well Monday I said you know I'll take xx,xxx.xx (a ridiculous number) and he actually bought it. This coming monday we meet at the bank and close the deal. My company is ok with the short notice because he has a driver for his truck and he's taking mine and staying with the company.

I have been tossing around the idea of pulling tanks for a while so I took this whole deal as a sign to give it a try. I have a prehire with Superior Carriers so after a driving test, physical, and pee test I guess I will start tanker training next week. Its going to be tough going back to being a company driver but I figure this way they pay me for the training and I get to see if I like this before spending the money to set up my new truck. I hope this all works out my head is kind of spinning from the speed of it all but the manager at the terminal seems really good, a straight shooter, and I have a pretty good feeling about the company.

Paul Mcgraw I know you have said you were happy there. Would you care to elaborate on your revenue per mile, amount of deadhead, treatment by shippers and dispatchers, and etc.

Well that's it in a nutshell, back to a company driver for at least a few months  , but probably worth it before I spend five thousand to set up a truck for work I may not even like.

Please discuss amongst yourselves, any advice would be appreciated.

    Couldn't agree more!
But, jokes aside, that might be a good idea! Wish you luck! 8)

Send Cyanide a PM, he is a company driver at Superior and has a thread in the "what about this company" forum on this board, called "tanker info for y'all", GREAT read.

I have pulled tanks on and off since I became an O/O in 1977and except for the 5 years I had a dump trailer this is by far the EASIEST and BEST money.

The dump was easier, but didn't pay as well.

I have read Cyanide's thread at least twice. I also got a lot of good info from mike's thread as well. I left dry van and went into flats for more money but I kind of dislike being dirty. Reading the posts by the tank haulers seems like the best part of the industry is in chemical tanks, nice clean work and paid for your qualifications. I am really looking forward to starting with the tanks. The info you guys have been putting out in the various threads reinforce my feelings about the high quality of Dana and Superior as companies to work for and for the level of respect given the drivers by shippers and receivers.

Thanks to Cyanide, Mike3,Maniac,PaulMcgraw, and all the other tank yankers here who have been willing to give out useful information.
