    Default Question about steering wheel

I've been looking at quite a few trucks on Truckpaper, and have noticed that they have rather large steering wheels. Is it possible to have the steering wheel replaced with a smaller, more ergonomic one ? How much would it likely cost, and what type is the most comfortable ?

I thought the same thing until I drove for a while and love the big wheel. I have a feeling there is a law about how small they can be. A smaller wheel would allow you to make much larger corrections fast and that would not be good in a big truck. That's why suicide knobs are illegal.

One of those knobs you can attach to the steering wheel so you can turn it with one hand.

If you ever experience a power steering failure the large wheel will give you enough leverage to steer the truck to safety and park it.

With a small wheel, you'd be screwed!!!
If you can't shift it smoothly, you shouldn't be driving it.
