    Default question about tags

    leasing my truck on with a friend who has own authority....don't have money for tag had the truck changed in my name and bought a non apportioned tag last year.but it ran out last november.however,i do have a old tag oklahoma apportioned permament.do u think i can get by with it?i'll be running out of north bama to east coast of georgia or florida.or can i buy temporary tags for the first month or so? if so,how much do they cost.any info is appreciated.

    are they good for all states or just the state i get it in. and how much are they. can u direct me who i need to talk too.

    If you want to get a temporary tag, you will likely need to find a dealer who will sell you one. However, I doubt whether they will unless they sell you a truck. I have no idea whether your state will issue a temporary plate. Most states issue their apportioned plates at the state capital. To be legal, you will need base plates and an IFTA account. Frankly, I don't see how you will be able to run unless you can find someone who will sell or issue you a temporary plate. If you don't have the funds for a base plate, how are you going to buy fuel? If you are that short of cash, perhaps you should consider leasing to a carrier who will pay for them in your behalf and take a small amount out each week.
