Default Is it just me, or does I-90 thru Chicago ...

SUCK big time? I took that route today, didn't know about the "pay a toll every fifty feet" rule. By the time I got to the last three booths, and dumped about forty bux in tolls, I had to give them an IOU since they would not take a hundred dollar bill. If I EVER take a load back into that region, that is one toll road I will avoid!

Man, I was glad to get out of THERE! Sitting tonight at the Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs, in the rain.... Maine was nice. 8)

When I went up there I couldn't believe how many tolls I had to pay... I didn't even get off the highway and I paid toll three times... Thank god GTI pays you back but after that run up there for the first time, I always stopped and picked up some cash before hand... Oh, and don't miss your exit to go around Chicago like I did during rush hour and have to go through downtown... doh!

Try being me I had to go in there all the time to deliver nursery stock for 2 months straight every single day into down town and the suburbs I got to know I-294 and I-290 and I-88 so well I could predict when I should hit the bumps.

The Skyway is a ripoff for as much traffic/backup is on there. Run 80/94 to 94 north next time

I hung up my OTR keys for the time being... I was going to go back but gordon is acting immature so I went local and I'm having otr withdrawls. I have to get some dental stuff covered in the next couple months and then Hopefully I'll be driving for another carrier with blue trucks sometime in August.

The only thing worse than taking the toll road around Chicago is not taking the toll road around Chicago. :?

What was really bad was when they had 80 torn up and they seemed to have no guilty conscience whatsoever about making you wait literally an hour or two to collect your $3. :x

Have a driver that we usually send east to PA. Had to send him to Iowa for a round and on the way back he seen the sign for 94 west and thought, "94 west, thats the way i need to go to get home" and took it! Took him some time and toll $$ before he figured out what he had done and had to turn around to get back to where he started. He pays a little better attention to where hes going now!
My dispatcher wants to know why im not there yet, she says its only 2 inches away when she measured it on her map!

Which one? I know a guy who bought one and took it back. He bought the next higher model and took it back. It wasn't until he spent over $1,000 for one that he was happy and thought it worked really well- and he was happy.

I'm ignorant about this. You're talking about having your laptop open and running the whole time you are driving or is there some kind of S&T GPS unit, too?

The 90 "skyway" is actually privately owned

Next time go the 290/294. If it's busy just go 39 to 80 or vice versa. 40 extra miles, but could be well worth it. I just came that way yesterday.
