Yeah but you are telling that to people who run trucks with 275HP moters.Originally Posted by Mackman

Barnhill Contracting around here has 250+ trucks and runs Cat C9 (I think) at 300HP with Allison<sp> autos and you don't see there trucks get around pretty good.
Specs look good except for the C10 engine.
If it had a C12, I'd say go for it.
If you can't shift it smoothly, you shouldn't be driving it.
the 5500i is that more like the light duty truck?? the paystar and the 5900i is the more heavy duty modeal aint they. for dump trucks. Just go with a MACK![]()
My truck has a 330 Cummins and a 9 speed and it hauls dirt just fineOriginally Posted by Mackman
I just don't get why so many guys think they have to have these big o'l 500hp + engines to haul dirt around. Sure I'm slower when I pull a hill then those guys, but I end up at the job site just the same.
well a 330 can get the job done but it is balls to the wall all day long. I know in PA with some of these hills it will take you 1/2 the day to get up them. When your off road in soft dirt it helps to have a bigger motor. Plus it is nice when your getting on a highway with them god damn short ass on ramps.Originally Posted by floored
Yeah that wouldn't be that big of a deal in NC being we are flat as a pancake.Originally Posted by Mackman
I don't know anything about the C10 but we don't have any hills so it might be alright and that is one heck of a price for a dump.
