    Cell phone ?
    I knew I wasn't clear enough.
Click the link in my first post.

    Here's what it says.

Cat Messenger is now available for Peterbilt's Model 387, providing real-time engine performance and fuel economy data to help customers better manage operating costs, provide incentives for drivers, and expedite servicing, Peterbilt Motors Co announced.

This system monitors various vehicle systems to record and analyze data, such as fuel economy by trip or life of the vehicle, idle time, average speed, oil pressure and fuel, coolant, and ambient air temperatures. Information is displayed via an in-dash LCD monitor.

Cat Messenger can also be programmed to give preventive maintenance due reminders based on date or mileage. There are real-time diagnostic features, and Cat Messenger will display engine fault codes and descriptions to help expedite troubleshooting and servicing. It can be equipped with an optional theft-deterrent feature that requires the operator to enter an access code before the engine can be started.

    RRRRRR......RRRRRRRRRRRRRR(truck starter sound)RRRRRRRRR....

Oh yea.. forgot to log into my ENGINE  LOL

I like the idea. Could be very useful, it does open the doors for lots to go wrong, like having another computer connected with your motor. Computer poops the bed.. now you can't log back in to start your motor?? Would make for a sucky sucky day.

I like the idea of having as much information about my truck as possible. I think it would depend on the price.

There $450.00 at Inland KW in this month flyer, so not very cheap. I have a feeling prices will come down further.

I'm always trying to figure out how much fuel I burned on a certain job, so a little item like this would probably be able to figure it out for you.
Plus some of the other things it does... outside temp... anti theft...etc.
You could also figue gallons of fuel burned to do oil changes by, instead of miles.

It's a little LCD screen about 2" by 5" that's mounted on the dash.

If anything just the fuel mileage readout is worth it, you really learn a lot how a truck behaves.

Having the means to check fuel mileage in real time would be an asset. You could learn how to maximize your mileage.

I agree...the cost of one of these would be recovered in fuel saving quickly.....unless you ignored it
But having a screen showing you the MPG going up... or down would probably be a bit of insentive.

They are running a special this month on the CAT Messenger in the Kenworth eflyer. You can probably go to their website and find it.

Your first post says there is link info in your next post. Your next post says click the link in your first post. Neither one has a link. Is this an April fools joke?

It was an attempt at being more clear by confusing the wording.
Probably the result of too many bumps in the road.
