    Default Atlanta anyone?

Any of you guys live in Atlanta Area? (Fayetteville) My sister-in-law is moving down that way. Soon to be married, and baby too. My wife would love to move where her sister is going. I am thinking I might move in a year or 2. I love NY though. I bet a lot of you think I'm nuts. But anyway, I see that there is lots of freight in and around Atlanta. I have been driving for 20 years and bought my own truck a year ago. I run local. Things are going pretty good right now, and I plan to have my truck paid off in about a year-and- a-half. My question to anyone that may live or operate in that area would be, are the rates around Atlanta fair?
I see a lot of short loads where you could do one up, one down in a days work and be home at the end of the day. Do this five days a week and make a decent living running local. Local runners please reply

It depends on what type of freight you haul, but for the most part, rates around Atlanta have been soft for the last year or so. If you get out of the Atlanta area, you can get an acceptable rate. I have been approached by one company that wanted me to commit to pulling vans intrastate for about $2/mile. I don't have any vans or extra drivers or I might have committed to doing their dedicated runs.

When I go down there I will be in a good financial situation. No truck payment and I will get a used van and a used flatbed. Also I would run a lowboy hauling equipment if there is any of that. I know there is a lot of construction going on down there with so many new areas being built up. So I am open to hauling anything that will make me money.

What about a dump trailer, or do they prefer a 10 wheeler? I did that for about 10 years, I can always go back to it.

Default We are based out of Atlanta.

We live in the Atlanta area and don't have problems getting freight out of this area for a decent rate. We have a 53' Dry Van.
