Is it worth joining OODIA? Are the benefits worth it? if you refer me I get my first year cheaper and I think you get a referral fee. I need name and ID number.

The only positive thing I've heard is that Paccar will give a $1000 discount to OREIDA members purchasing a new truck.
Beyond that, I see no reason to join. They lose most of the fights they pick.
...
Not worth it to me. They don't always represent truckers the way I would want to be represented. They are always looking for another company to sue because some of their members can't read their leases. They want government to control things like fuel surcharge, but don't like it when government controls things like speed limits.
The EASIEST way to make real change in Washington D.C. is to move Election Day to April 16th!

I have been a member for years. While there are some things I would like to see them do differently, they can be a good resource for drivers and owner operators. One thing I like about them is that they stay on top of pending legislation and keep us informed about changes in various state and federal laws which might affect us. I think they need to find a better law firm. The one they have doesn't have as good a win record as I would like, but then there is always something we don't like about other organizations. As far as I know they are the only voice we have that represents the professional driver, owner operator and independent.
What trucking industry organizations do you belong to? This question is open to everyone.

I don't really care for most of Landline magazine either, but its better than nothing.
I'm not real pleased with XM's channel either,....too much gabbing&music,...not enough info.
They may not win all of their lawsuts but they will at least keep these companies in check wnen it comes to any shady buisiness that that may want to play with drivers.AT LEAST there is someone there and for silly 25$ per yearam willing to support them !
Why yes, yes I am.
Hmmm yeah, just recently joined, and really happy with the help they gave me in getting my authority, but kinda wondering if it will be worth it to stay a member a while....hmmm what benefits would

For a annual membership fee of $132.00, NO THANKS! This is the first time I have ever heard of them. Maybe this was the same "Trucker Club" some yeahoo was trying to sell me a membership to in a truckstop parking lot a few years ago. Here's the link for National Association of Independent Truckers for anyone who wants to check it out. http://www.naitusa.com/

I mean I do like having someone to complain to once I get nervous I might be audited by DOT...but is that worth monthly payments?
Yup. $11 a month. I get some of my insurance through them. If I got it through my insurance company, it would cost me about $300 a month more.Originally Posted by Big John
Spend $132 per year to save $3600 per year. Works for me.
It's $45 yearly! And most of the time, even less with some discounts!Originally Posted by pepe4158

My $1,000 rebate from KW thru OOIDA paid my membership for 20+ years!

Hmmm I thought there were monthly payments Solo.....quess I will have to re-read what I signed up for.
Already paid the $45 when Crystal at OOIDA did Federal DOT# and MC#, and by-the-way they were really easy n good to work with. "I heavily" endorse them for first time authority drivers....maybe the others are just as good....dunno, but OOIDa worked for me.
