Default you want to go 68 per hr there trying to force this issue

all the big company's are at it again. They have a device to put into big trucks that would make big trucks go 68 miles per hr.
They want to make this law.

What a mess that would be!

We have till 3/28/07. Too put our input to the department of transportation.

I talking to those driver who also work for these big company's cuz one day you might want to work somewhere else. A better company that allows you to go faster and possible you may want to get your own big truck.
My opinion is big company's want no competition
    Big company are greedy.
Please email the dept of transportation and let them know what a mess that could be.
Tell them about Ohio raising the toll speed limit and how fatality accidents have gone 60 % down since they up the speed limit from 55miles per hr to 65 miles per hr.

Split speed limits do not work and are very dangerous
And with dust in my throat I crave - Only knowledge will I save - To the game you stay a slave, rover, wander, nomad, vagabond, call me what you will...

Actually, normally, i drive 65mph, but that's my choice, and I'd hate to drive all the time, at my max, and no reserve.

Feel sorry for guys who do, accelerator is the same tool for me, as steering and brakes, so restricting acceleration, is the same as restricting those two, in my book!

I just switched from an 05 Volvo to a 06 T800 KW, Governor is set at 74 mph on the speedometer. I have a laptop with Delorme Streets and Atlas that puts 74 mph on the speedometer at 70 mph by GPS. I thought this was interesting and got to looking at all the radar readouts that are on the side of the road. Sure enough, I usually am running about 68 when I go through them, verifying my GPS.

SO ... my question is, will the new regulation, if it comes into effect actually set the governor at 68 per your vehicle, or 68 mph, actual speed?

When I talked to the mechanic about it, he said that the difference was probably due to the tires being slightly smaller in circumference than the original equipment ones.
REMEMBER, guns don't kill! It's the jealous husband that comes home early!

YES that is their intention 68 MPH MAX for everyone.

I have already wrote my opinion in on this, I suggest you do the same.

For those of you who think its OK that way, thats fine write a letter of oppsion in anyway, just REMEMBER this is just another FREEDOM being taken away by the government, wether you feel it right or wrong, we should NEVER surrender our hard fought FREEDOM to ANYONE!!!!

And also remember, speed limiters today, who know what FREEDOM they will want to take away next?????

It's a 'freedom' [sic] to go faster than 68mph? Do you mean to type "Going faster than 68mph is a right."?

GMAN tried to convince me that driving is a right, and he was unsuccessful. Maybe you can do better. Point to the class in the Bill of Rights where driving faster than 68 mph is a right.

    We'll be waiting! :P

It's no memory to me, but if you want to selectively use that as your position, go ahead. But the next time you try to use any other Amendment in your defense, I'll be sure to quote you!

Now rights are God given? Whoa. Learn something new everyday I guess.

Which God, exactly? I've heard there's more than one. Also, where do I check to see what rights I have been extended this week?

So, they are intending to goven all trucks back to 68 mph...and never mind all the lil four wheelers that are still whizzing by and the truck that is unable to go any faster.............Split speeds sound so dangerous.....

Your claim that rights are given by God is EXACTLY on subject, but I'll play along.

I don't own any trucks. If you're referring to "owner's rights" or something similar, that's bunk. You, as an O/O or company driver, are bound to the rules of the road, no matter how stupid you think they are. If you don't like them, no one is forcing you to drive. And that goes for a 4 wheeler too. Live in the country where there is no public transportation? Move. It's your choice to drive; it's your obligation to follow the rules. Even the mandatory 68mph max rule, should it come into effect.

I don't mind 68mph SPEED LIMIT. If you read my first post on the subject, i don't drive over 65(with the few exceptions) even in a higher speed limit zones.
I just against anybody tampering with MY equipment, and reducing my options(once again, read my first post).

i dont think that law will ever pass. the way it seems now is the ins co's put a price pressure on co's that dont have there trucks governered. i hope it never happens. ever. everyone thought that the smoking law would just apply to very few situations when they first started that crusade. now i dont smoke. but it is said that if you drive tru the state of oh it is agaisnt the law to smoke in a big truck & they enforce that law. our freedom is all we have left to live for & to die for...

Same old thing like years back California wanted everybody to put a electronic box on their trucks so CHP could hit a switch and disable the truck.
    Nothing happened with it

The big carriers want the government to force ALL owners to put speed limiters on their trucks and have manufacturers to put them in from the factory with mandatory criminal charges should an owner or driver tamper with the speed limiter. If you plan on filing something with the Feds on this, I suggest you check your spelling and grammar and watch the language. Some have posted and it takes most of the credibility away from the comment. We want our comments to be read and not discarded because it was poorly thought out or written. I would encourage everyone to write a comment about their feelings about this proposed rule. If it passes, we will all have to live with the results. There are a number of reasons why this should never become law. Unless we voice our opinions, it is likely that it will become law. The big trucking companies are really pushing for everyone to be limited to the same speed. It only takes about 5 minutes to set the speed of a big truck with a small handheld computer or laptop. Most of those who are pushing this on the rest of us already govern their trucks. The interesting part about this is that most of the wrecks I see are trucks owned by the mega carriers. I suppose limiting speed doesn't really make things safer after all.

    I rarely go over 60, I haven't had a problem yet.
