some days it just pays to have your load cancel.

I delivered in Charlotte,NC on friday morning with a pre plan of loading Sat. for a monday delivery in St. Louis, well at 1pm friday I find out my load got moved to Monday and that I will have to layover until then.

Laying around the motel on Friday night I get a phone call at 8pm about doing some local Ethanol loads 3 on Sat and 3 on Sun. so I thought I might as well since I wasn't doing anything anyways.

Has to be the easiest job I have done in a long time,3 loads each 28 miles round trip 30min to load,35min to unload and $200 a piece.

Started at 6am and finished at 1:15 Sat. and Noon today, over $1,200 and less than 200 miles total.

Yes, please post more. I am curious how things are going during these tough times as I was thinking of leasing on there since I live near the crestwood terminal. I am leased to Bulk Express/Kenan Advantage now and, things pretty well suck over here right now. I need a new home.

As far as I know Dana is not hiring now, barely have enough to keep us busy,I work out of Jersey, it is very slooooow all over in the chemical industry, most places I have been in the last month are on 4 day work weeks, Sherwin Williams, Rustoleum, Behr paint, Brentag, Ashland Chem. lots of big ones VERY slow.

Most chemical terminals where we load also very slow, IMTT, Kinder Morgan etc, loader at Kinder Morgan Carteret told me I was the first one he loaded all day on Thursday, and it was 2 PM.

Only thing moving are the sea-containers with the outgoing waste water, and even that is not at 100-%

Not a good time to be job hopping in any direction.

Rogers Cartage, part of the Schwerman/Tankstar group has let ALL the O/O's go in SC, and I believe OrangeTXguy said Miller was cutting their fleet size also.

QC has leased 100 trailers from Dana because they haven't the credit to buy their own, Langer is slow according to friends I have there, and so is Superior Carriers

Stay put I would say, not only is the grass NOT greener, it ain't even growing here.

Same thing here. I have been cut to a 3 day week for at least the next 6-8 weeks. Alcoa has cut back on us bringing in the hard carbon pitch for making their carbon blocks. They shut down a couple of places and now they are transporting the block from the closed plants up to the warrick plant. So no need to produce alot of their own block for a while. So of course we have the domino effect. All of our other customers way down so of course koppers isnt producing much which in turn they dont need as much tar brought in to make product which in turn has all the local drivers cut down. Not to mention tar has been getting harder to come by with the big cuts at the steel mills and closings.
Times are a bit tough for a while but was just hoping for a small miracle out there that someone was still doing great and looking for trucks.
