Default Information on OOIDA

Anyone a member of OOIDA?

I found out that I need to be part of a Drug & Alcohol Testing
Consortium, and checked out the web and came across OOIDA website that does this.

a. Would you advise me to join OOIDA to get my Drug and Alcohol Testing consortium took care of, and if not what advice would you offer on this.

I started as an O/O in Oct of 06 after being a company driver for the past 8 years. I haul logs for a living, so I figure getting a wide range of companies that offer this close to my home (Northeast Alabama) may not be easy.

I am a member but was not fammilliar with that program, if youre talking about regular piss test you can check with DOT to find out which places they will accept as a drug testing facilities as they do not accept ALL...

I do mine at local Concentra office 1/2 mile from my house.

I have been a member of OOIDA for a number of years. They do offer a drug consortium program. It runs about $125/yr per driver. Most programs such as this runs about $100-150/yr per driver.

All carriers are required to participate in a drug consortium program. This is a program which does random drug screens. They will call someone with your company and tell them who has been selected for testing. Once the driver is notified, he only has a certain amount of time to get to the nearest drug testing facility. Failure to get to the facility will result in an automatic drug positive or refusal.

Dejan,

If you're leased you don't have to worry about it. You're already covered under your company's program.

I use OOIDA's drug consortium, never been called for a drug test. My understanding is that they have resources all over the country for testing. I was already a member, and I believe you have to be a member to participate.

I don't believe that OOIDA actually does the randoms, but sells the service for an outside vendor. My niece found a company who does the testing for a less than OOIDA, but it is convenient to get it through them. You can get most everything you need in this business through OOIDA. They can be a good resource. If you want to find out about current legislation concerning trucking they generally keep up with what is going on in each state and at the Federal level.

Thanks everyone. I am going to join OOIDA Monday, as they have a special until Jan 31st of $25.00 membership dues, and $100.00 for the
OOIDA's Drug Consortium program if your an OOIDA Mbr.

It seems to include everything that I will need to be in Compliance with DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing.
