What is this truck worth?
There is a 1995 Peterbilt 379exhd sitting at our local used truck dealer ship that I have been looking at. It has a 3406E Cat 435HP, 10spd, 48" flat top, 692,000mi showing, and it has a wet line system which I will need. The dealer is asking $19,500

I'd say it priced fair. Of course, without a test drive or picture, my .02 goes so far.

Have not had a chance to drive it yet. Will probably do that today. Truck looks near about brand new the color of it is a dark green.

Well according to the dealer it has always been used to pull dumps locally so it might be true but I don't belive anything a salesman says.

I know a guy that has a 1998 Freightliner with only 286,000. Low mileage is rare, but possible.

“The mileage should be available by hooking the computer to the engine…the engine won’t lie. Give someone a new odometer, a drill, and a few hours on their hands and they’ll make it show as many (or as few) miles as they want.
When was the last time it was inframed / out-of-framed (and can they prove it)? How about aluminum wheels, dual exhaust, air cleaners, air ride or springs? Jake Brake? Need to know these things….can be the difference between a $19,500 truck and a $11,500 truck.”

Inframe engine rebuild - cylinders, injectors, rod & main bearings are all replaced along with relevant seals, etc etc etc.
Out of frame rebuild - in addition to the above, the engine is removed from the frame of the tractor and the crankshaft is replaced as well.
