Default My wife thinks I am the worst driver on the planet.

You don't know how many times she has said to me "wait let me drive, I hate the way you drive."
Is it the extra space between cars?
Is it the slowing on curves?
Is it try to make all left hand turns?
    I don't know .

My wife started saying the same thing when I got my CDL. It doesn't bother her as much now that I take wide turns with our 4 wheeler.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
    Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

my wife used to complain about my driving, not the speeding per se just that I didnt let people cut me off or take advantage of my extreme driving prowess

anywho we`re heading out for a weekend after dropping the wee ones off and she starts in again, so I say forget the car we`re taking the truck.... so she heads towards the dodge and I say no we`re taking THE truck.... lets just say 730 horsepower and 2200 ft lbs of torque roaring through 8 inch chico stacks and grabbing 18 gears in 25 seconds got her to leave me and my defensive driving alone

I've also gotten flak from friends since I got my CDL.

My reply (in Butthead voice) "I've got a pass A@@wipe"

I don't think I've gotten in anything but the right-hand left turn lane either.

After running a forklift for 8hrs I often try to use the turn signal to shift gears; I also find myself reaching for the jake selector in my Jeep when going downhill.

I can relate to this....my girlfriend thinks I drive slow. (in my car) I tell her that I'm sure its because I'm too used to the truck, and am being cautious. I don't drive slow in my 4 wheeler.
She is just a leadfoot! BTW...I am the one with a squeaky clean driving record, not her!

My wife doesn't say much anymore, I get too pissed off, that's one thing that really annoys me is backseat drivers. Here's what I say to them "Who's driving this truck me or you?"

I must admit I have what I like to call an "Interstate foot". I drive interstates almost everday so if my mind wanders while I'm driving on some back roads, I've caught myself doing 60-65 before.

If she doesn't like how you drive then tell her to stay off the sidewalk. My wife also hates how I drive. We go to Ga. for Christmas every year and she has to beg me to stop so she can go to the bathroom. A truck driver just gets used to not drinking a lot of liquids so that you can actually get somewhere and only have to stop when you need to. It could be trying to make all left hand turns. Maybe she wants to travel farther then around your block. 3 lefts make a right, I wanna go home.

When I used to race karts competitively, I'd step into my 4-wheeler and drive like a saint. The weekend after I stopped racing, I got a ticket for a 40 in a 25-oops! This was a long time ago, but anytime I finish up pulling a 45k load and get into my dakota, down goes the foot to the floor, and I go "oh damn!"

Haha I can relate with the Jake comment. I've had times where I've been going down a hill or something and traffic slows down and I take my foot off the gas in my car and wonder why the hell I'm not slowing down....

I'm not even a driver yet, I have two more weeks of school before I get my CDL. I find myself searching for the clutch in my automatic. I step on it at least a couple of time before I realize it is just an automatic. Today I found myself taking wide turns. Good practice, I guess.
