Default Hauling my own car in my trailer *pics*

I recently took a load down to South Carolina where my engine builder lives. I needed some tuning done to my truck, so I decided to take it down there in the van. Enjoy the pics. It may look like a "Blazer", but thats a rare GMC vehicle called the Typhoon. Mine is modified heavily and runs 11.80's in th 1/4 at 127mph. Enjoy the pics.

I once helped a guy load a buick into a coal bucket. Proped the tail gate up with 2x6 and backed it in the trailer  He was hauling it from KC to KY. Don't know what it looked like when he got home with it.

Ye. Full time AWD> 4.3L V6 turbocharged with air-water IC.

I was fortunate enough to have 16' walkboards to load and unload the truck, as I do with other cars. For hhg, i use the two ramps locked (pinned) together.

1992-1993 were production years. In 1991 they made the pickup version, the Syclone ( NOT Cyclone) and there were just under 3000 of those. Thses things do 0-60 in 5 flat (4.6 sec for the Sy) in the rain or dry! 8)

The reason this is in "O/O" section is because I hauled the car in my van, as an o/o. Kind of a perk when ya run HHG.

Why such a high mph for that time? I thought most AWD vehicles got very low mph. high 11's is 110-115 mph territory. With 128 mph you should be deep into the 10's.

WEll, yes and no. AWD vehicles are percieved as slow because you think of little Subaru station wagons 8) Auidis and WRX's are prime examples of awd in action.

Based on my numbers, one would be in the 10's EASILY except my limiting factors are:

4100lb weight......AWD doesn't help much after you pass the 1/th mile.... and I'm pretty much a brick going down the strip (non -aero). What Sy/Ty's do well is hook and go quickly. They are pretty much 1/8th mile trucks, unlike the GN, which can pull hard down the 1360'

Before the turbo and alky upgrade, it was a 12.73 @111 and a G-Tech of 0-60 in 4 flat. I gotta dig up the actual timeslip for the 11.80 somewhere.

Weaksauce. I can provide a mustang that will run 1 second faster, and at 15mph faster. ~600rwhp, 17" dr's and a roadrace suspension will give you conversation starting timeslips lol.

But all of those things wouldn't help with MPH, wich you are getting very high.

    Are you sure it's correct?

If it is, and don't take this as an insult, you need to shift a little faster that would be the only explanation.

Pretty cool though, I like it!

Not sure how shifting faster woul dhelp either. If your getting high MPH and your et's are too high, that adds up to poor reaction time.

Not necessarily due to poor reaction time. You can drop up to .5 off your e.t. by powershifting. Knowing how to properly drive is 1/2 the battle. I can run mid 11's at 130+mph, but only b/c having to launch damn near off idle and feather it through 3 gears. Or, you can throw slicks on it and run high 9's in the 140's.

Reaction time is not figured into the final ET. A poor 60 foot would be, but I doubt that thing gets poor 60 footers.

I'm curious about something, are there any special requirements or permits for hauling a vehicle on a trailer? Apparently the fuel/fuel tanks don't make it hazmat. Tanks got to be on empty or anything special you've got to do?

I don't have any idea what you guys are talking about but I do know that my 2006 Ford F250 will run 92mph wide open thinking about getting a chip put in like I had in my old truck then I could do 115mph wide open.

By the way my Ford is all wheel drive.

No specal hazmat endorsement's etc. required. I've hauled them with full tanks, and with empty tanks as well. You wouldn't want to push a car with an empty fuel tank up a set of walk-boards.

My '03 Chevy pickup is governed at 96mph, sucks but that's where it shuts off. My mustang isn't governed, and since you don't know exactly what we're talking about...the car has the ability to go from a deadstop to 146mph in 9.48 seconds with a 1.36 60'. It's not made for 1/4 mile dragstrips, and those times are only doable with the front sway bar removed, front coilovers loosened up, 28" et streets, and launch it off the rev-limiter. The car is built to handle with Maximum Motorsport suspension, and Baer brakes at all 4 corners. I've only ran it in "track form" twice, as I don't want to beat the car up structurally, it's still a low-mileage CLEAN CLEAN car. Most of the time I take it on 17" drag radials and have to finesse it to high 11's. <rolleyes>
