I run 58-60 mph. Very rarely will I do over 60. My cruise is set at a max 63(company speed limit, safety bonus) but I can do 75 on the foot feed.
How fast do you guys go? Do you have any type of limiter?

That's odd that your company would have such a large space between cruise speed and max speed. Usually they're set within 4-5 mph of each other.Originally Posted by allan5oh

65 or 75
Man. You got more patience than I do. If the fuel bonus made a very, very big,big difference on my check,I just might run that slow,if not, pooey on that, smash on it :P . That would drive me plumb nutz, running around at 60. Our trucks are governed at 68,and that drives me about half nutz. :P I only run a 400 mile round trip each night,so it aint that bad,but if it was OTR,forget it. :POriginally Posted by allan5oh
I rarely drive faster than 70 mph. My average is probably 65-70, depending on where I am running. My trucks are not governed, so I can run much faster, but it only burns more fuel and won't make much difference in the time frame in which you can make a delivery.
They don't, perhaps I should clarify. Company speed limit is 63 mph, if you abide by it, you get an extra 5 cpm. You are allowed 4% miles per quarter to be over this speed limit. So if I do 30,000 miles in a quarter, I'm allowed 1,200 miles over the speed limit, regardless of speed. That's odd that your company would have such a large space between cruise speed and max speed. Usually they're set within 4-5 mph of each other.
My cruise and max speed is set where I want it. A lot of guys set it up that way, so at least you can get up to speed if you really need it(I never have). Most other guys with Penner set it the same way. BTW I am an o/o.
65-70 most of the time
An O/O with a company speed limit??? That's just pushing a little too far into your business, unless of course they're making 1/2 the payment or something....
$$$$ NOT miles
I work local in Los Angeles and Ventura Calif. ( speed limit is 55 ) I just got my second speeding ticket in 5 years, The first one was wrtiten @ 64mph and the one I just got a month ago was for a chicken S%$T 60mph on interstate 5 ($186 was the fine).
Both tickets by the CHP and both said my speed was higher than it was.
They clocked me for a 1/4 mile both times is all.
i usually never go over 70.....depending on the day of the week it is..on fridays if i have enuff fuel(i drive local) ill do what i can get away with mon-thurs 65-68
I have mine governed at 65 on the foot, 70 on the cruise.
I am happy at 65mph maybe 70. I always wonder about the BBR O/Os that blow past me at 70 plus... They must have alot of money for fuel...
It's important to factor your ratio, tire size and torque curve. My old Werner FL classic does best at 64-66 mph for fuel mileage. I just get up a little earlier and keep the left door shut and I'm parked for the night b4 the truck stop fills up...usually. It is set wide open, but I rarely go over 70. I would rather have the extra money than get there 1 hour sooner.
hogan truck supposed to be 65 mph, but had it tweaked at the hogan facility in fontana california to go 68 mph, makes a huge difference.
My truck is governed at 80. Most of the time run about 72 depends where I'm at. Usaly getting between 6.8 to 7.8 mpg.
May God bless all in their ventures......Been gone while but now I'm back. Going to keep on trucking even though the freight is sucking.

I only got 6.6 mpg for the best, with lite load, and a terrible 4.9 mpg weighing 79,225, going thru to CA from St louisOriginally Posted by solo379

I'm elusive, but if you look hard enough, I can be found.Originally Posted by geeshock
