He was just home for the weekend and I suggested posting here, He gave me the go ahead so if your seriously intested, Give him a call on his cell for more details. 716-498-0055.

Default looking for an O/O to drive for.

Hi Kim, My name is John. I am looking for work I am a good driver in need of good work. I have about 7 yrs experience and just had some bad luck with the big companies. I have a good driving record, never been late for a load. I am willing to stay out until I have enough money to relocate some where close to a yard. I am currently living in Michigan. I just need to get out of this state and I cant find trucking companies hiring out of MI. I have a Class A CDL with all the endorsements. I can start asap. Please get back to me asap thank you. John

Hi, just wanted to mention. I just found out from a company I applied for that Celadon the last company I worked for put an accident on my DAC. I was never in any accident. I have been driving for about 7 yrs and I have never had been in Any incidents. I'm looking into trying to fight it to get it removed from my DAC. So if I can still drive for your husband, I would really like to work for him. I am a very good driver. Just give me a chance to show you that I am. Thankyou.
My number is 248-930-6308. If theirs no answer please Leave a message for me. Thank you.
    John.

i wouldn't hire either one of these guys. they can't follow simple instructions like "give him a call on his cell for more details".. they would have a load going to portland oregon and end up in portland maine.

no problem guys!! I check in every few days and past on any messages. So far just a few calls, just for information some are intersted but few are willing to go through the paper work and background check with central. He called last week and has a line on a married couple who very interested and has contacted central to start the paper work so he's keeping his fingers cross. Steve will be home around the 29th so I will steer him to the board and post something himself.

    Take care

    Default steve

First thing i would like to say is thanks to all the guys who called. I had a team that was all set to start working on my truck and they flaked out. I was really happy about getting them started because I just got custody of my son and really need to be a home more often. I am home for a couple of days and am able to finally post a message. I am looking for experienced drivers with a clean record. I am looking for non=smokers because i will fill in for days off of my drivers and team with a driver if necessary. I am looking to match up drivers to make teams. I am going to pay a team 65% of what the truck makes after expenses. Bonuses are available for teams that make more than 5000 miles. When my company gets more trucks, the people that have been with me from the beginning will have great opportunitys. It costs me $300 a person for a background check on employees. So serious calls only. Experienced central refridgerated drivers are no cost to me so they would be an obvious first choice. I have no problem spending the $300 though. Lets get this going and make some money. Give me a call.

These are the questions I hate.As a Motor Carrier myself, if a driver wants all those health insurance,Occ. hazard, vacation pay and all that, then you need to skip people like us and sign on with the bigger carriers.I for one, cannot afford all that for my driver when I am paying him $1000-$1300 a week.Do you even know what it costs people like me to keep the truck running?
Do you even know what these expenses are?
    1.2290
    2.base plate
    3.UCR
    4.IFTA
    5.1099 income tax
6.The 30% fuel that we all spend and you still want all that from someone with maybe 1 or 2 truck operation?Buddy, go ask those from the bigger carriers.
THERE IS A REASON WHY PEOPLE WANT GUYS LIKE US=It is because of the mark on the DAC and that is why they turn to guys like us and to sacrifice all that you mentioned.

I just saw that you are a senior board member like myself and you should know better. My driver better not ask the same question you just asked or I will yank that position from him and go down the list in my rolodex.

you might as well just advertise for a SLAVE to sit in your drivers seat. Go ahead and keep looking for those drivers with DAC problems to keep your rigs going. If you cant afford those fixed costs, them maybe this is the wrong game for you. There might be some ILLEGALS down in the Imperial Valley of California that would love to drive for you. $1000-$1300 with ZERO benefits and on a 1099 is PEANUTS. I bet you run them like a animal every week. Whats the home time like for your drivers? What kind of equipment do they have?

Gee.... I could swear it says "Board Regular" under your username. That is NOT what it says under Ronjon's.

BTW.... I got 5 out of 6 right, and I'm not even an O/O. Don't know what a 2290 is.

You HAD me on your side about the expenses for a small carrier, and not ALL of us need insurance (I'm a vet) .... but, you lost me with your angry response quoted above. You're ACTUALLY saying you would FIRE a man whom you'd already HIRED.... JUST for asking about benefits??

    Wow... talk about LOYALTY?!

Sure am glad (even with my "less than spotless" record,) that I'm not desperate enough to need to work for you.

I'm thinking I may call the O.P. I used to haul beer, coast to coast, team, etc.

I think it is interesting that he actually RETURNED here after a year's absence.

But, I don't know if I could DRIVE that SLOW!
Remember... friends are few and far between.

I have seen you ask this same questions numerous times on this board, and to other O/Os who were not even running under their own MC but leased on to another company.I was pretty much the only one to answer you.Have you downloaded the OOIDAs spreadsheet to find out what it cost a motor carrier even without the benefits?Go ask the bigger carriers those questions.SLAVE?Who said he is a slave?I can give you my drievrs contact info and find out if he is happy or not.Why would he call me a couple of days asking when we will start growing with more trucks? This is a "heavy Haul" guy with 18yrs experience. If he can find a job with that much pay and mileage then he would have left me.Who said my driver has DAC problems?Who the heck said I can't afford fixed cost?I can take out OHC from his check and pay him the difference but he chose not to.The lists I just mentioned is just half of what it cost a motor carrier.Do you even know about the KYU,NM,OR and HUT permits that we carriers pay?My driver comes home when he wants to.Guys like you need to have your own equipment rather than hoping from links to link on this board in questioning people running under their own MC.Put your credit on the line if you have good credit and get your own equipment.BTW, all 3 of my equipment is paid 4.

Golfhobo, yes I would yank the position from him because I am "bending backwards" for him and most motor carriers will not hire him.It has nothing to do with his DAC.He is a good driver but I will not hesitate to change drivers.

Now cheerleader RonJon, go sit in the corner and dial Select Trucks and see if you qualify for an equipment. If you don't qualify for an equipment, don't go around asking small carriers like myself about all the benefits.Questions like that should be for the mega carriers.
I will "let sleeping dogs lie" because we have both made our point, and I am rarely on this site to even have time to respond.

I'm not a large carrier and i'm able to pay my drivers on a W-2,pay 100% medical/dental paid vacations, workmans comp and UMC. My trucks are new, traded every 3 years and depending on the run the driver does they make 60,000.00+ year. They work 4/3,5/2 or 10/4. You can't afford it,charge higher rates or leave the business.

hey driver, I asked a legit question to the original poster. You jumped in with your don't mess with my 3 truck operation and if my driver had the balls to request benefits and taxes he can walk home attitude.

I'm one of those drivers who will find a good company to work for and will never be an O/O. I'm sure I can qualify, but why would I want to?

I may be the cheerleader for the company driver,
but you seem to be the take it or leave, my way or the highway boss.
